Hi, dltrang,
We have many support requests for this particular GPS, and some of them remain unresolved. I personally do not recommend this model.

Lamar,
Will Haicom HI-204E serial GPS works with Mapopolis? and what would you recommend as far as serial and bluetooth GPS devices for Tungsten T3? I need to find a replacement for my Digitraveler. Thanks again for your help. |

Hi, dltrang,
Well, is there ever the right website to learn about GPS devices! Please click on the HOME link at the top of this page, and then scroll down below the NEWS section. Just look at all the links: GPS Receivers: Choosing - List - Reviews - Xtrac.
We all have our own opinions about what devices to choose and use. I chose and use a Socket Emtac, and it's been very reliable for me. (I use it every day.) I also have an iTrek mouse GPS. It's nice that the Y-cable charges the Palm while it powers the GPS. The problem with Bluetooth on the Tungsten T3 is that it really bites the battery life. You're going to want to use a power cable with the T3, and there goes the no wires theory. I also have found that the Emtac has much fewer dropped signal incidences than the iTrek.

Hi dltrang!
I use the Haicom 204e and it works OK with Mapopolis in my experience.

Lamar is right about BT sucking your T3 battery. Unless your going to use a Car Mount or charging cradle (The Siedio car mount ROCKS!), your looking at about 45 minutes before your T3 is about useless. I have a GlobalSat BT-308, which is a Bluetooth gps. It's had some problems, but once I opened it up and played with a wire, it's been great..... Personally I wouldn't really recommend it, but it does have the 8 hour battery..... I would really check out the gps shoutout as lamar suggested, and then head over to ebay, you can get some really good deals =] Or if your looking at a car mount, Siedio has some bundles.....

| Hey dltrang. I also have a BlueLogger and a T3. They work great in Mapopolis. Don't tell Delorme this, but I bought it with StreetAtlas Handheld, and besides the program itself being less than perfect (sic), the updates were coming from the GPS so slowly that it was worthless. I hooked it up to Mapopolis, though, and presto, fantastic little combo. Not going back to wired GPS anytime soon. todd3835 is right about the power consumption: if you're going to seriously use a Palm/BT GPS combination, get the car charger for your Palm. The BlueLogger does get at least 7 hours (not sure exactly how much, but I had it on for a whole shift once with no problem), but the Palm will crap out after maybe an hour, even with the screen brightness turned down and all that. I don't know about the stability of the combination. I personally haven't had any problems, but then again, what do i know? |

I have a LeadTek 9537 which works fine with Mapopolis but I don't know how much difference ( hardware and not ) there is between the Bluelogger and my LeadTek.

Lamar, Can you elaborate on the unresolved issues with Delorme's BlueLogger? Are the concerns only with Palm devices? I just got one to use with my HP 2215 and Mapopolis - based on it's generally good reviews. I don't care for Delorme's handheld software, but I do like the BlueLogger. So far, it has worked fine with Mapopolis, but I really haven't stressed it on a long trip. Your comments have me worried...
Thanks, MikeVt |

| I've been using a BlueLogger with a Dell X50 and Mapopolis (plus others) for a while now and it works just fine. BT does suck down the PPC battery pretty quickly, but no more or less than any other BT device. I've seen no stability or reliability problems at all. |

Hi, MikeVt,
Yes, it is mostly Palm users that tell us they have trouble getting the BlueLogger paired and connecting to Mapopolis.
