Hey guys, just wondering if you could give me a simple "yes" or "no" answer...

When I want to search an address, or especially a POI (eg. shopping mall or gas station), there is always a lag as it "thinks".
This is the only gps where I've encountered this...

If I try to search for a "Shell" gas station nearby and type in shell, then hit search, it will lag/freeze/think/search for a few minutes before finding...and I can't even cancel or do anything in the meantime.

Just wondering for those with the RM1700 if this is normal for this unit.

I've updated to the latest maps and firmware.

You need to connect the rm1700 to your computer. If you are using a Windows's computer, you need to do disk maintenance on it. Check for errors, etc. I found that it speeded up our Magellan.

Hey Elvisfan, oh ok great, thanks! I'll try that on the next maps updates(I installed the unit in my car with the OEM GPS panel, so I do map updates during warm summer days in my driveway with my laptop plugged in haha).
