Hi, I have the option of buying a 2595LMT or a 2595LM + GTM25.

I assume that the FM receiver is built into the 2595LMT(?) and the power chord doubles as an antenna ?

Does any one have any info on which of the options provides better FM reception?

The GTM25 has a small hole in the side of the housing, would this be for an external antenna.

Thanks

Wooly

Just to clarify ... the plug in antenna that goes into the small hole is mainly aimed at the European market, where there are many FM stations transmitting on much lower power than those in the US (and Canada?). I live in the UK, and without it I get a far poorer signal. You may, or may not, benefit from using it in Canada, although I suspect you won't need it. Rick may be able to confirm (or not) that when he pops in, or anyone of the other Canadian forum members

I don't think you will need to install any antenna into that hole (if that's what it's for) and to be honest I don't know if you can even purchase one in Canada. I never have trouble getting traffic info around Vancouver (for what it's worth) and I don't even have the supplied receiver layed out. About 80 to 90% of the receiver cable is tucked in the dash under the steering column of my VW. Personally I'd just buy the LMT.

Thanks for all the comments. Gave them both a road run last night and the performance was very similar.

The reason I thought the LMT had a built in FM receiver was the absence of any hardware on the power cable (except for a small filter) where as the LM power chord / GTM25 has an obvious receiver built into it.

2595LMT will be cheaper, than 2595LM + traffic antenna.
2595 series use external traffic receiver.

Currently, internal traffic receiver is installed in nuvi 140/150 only. Power cable is slim.

Newer production 2595LMT units have the traffic receiver built in instead of an included external receiver (new=built-in; or old=external).

Thank you, Dewi.
Then it makes sence to purchase 2595LMT with such cable (and check before your buy). Internal traffic receiver is much better than old one.
