I want to install pieces of City Navigator on the eTrex.
I have: eTrex 20 Nuvi 1490T MapSource City Navigator North America NT 2011.4 Topo U.S. 2008
When I use Mapsource to transfer a section of City Navigator to the eTrex, it transfers with no errors, but when I fire up the eTrex, it says "Cannot unlock maps", and CN does not show up on the map list.
I have had no problems transferring - and using - pieces of Topo U.S. 2008 from MapSource to the eTrex.
What's wrong, and how do I fix it?
Thanks. |

City Navigator is copy protected and permanently locked to the first device it is installed on. It can be used on multiple computers but only one GPS device. To fix it, you will need to buy a separate copy of City Navigator to install on your eTrex 20.
Topo US 2008 is not locked and can be installed on any GPS that you own. |

Hi,
If you are already owned the actual City Navigator North America NT 2011.4 (or are the owner of the attached GPS), you also can ask GARMIN for an extra license agreement. The price to buy such a coupon is only a few.
It's years since I have no more ask for a new extra license, but at the time, they ask me only 25€ for a supplementary license coupon (to compare to the 250€+TAX for a complete new product).
Ask GARMIN directly, they will inform you on current conditions and specific avaibility.
