My old Nuvi has died after serving me well for 5 years and it's time to purchase a replacement.
The 3590LMT looks nice until one examines the price tag.
The 2595LMT appears to offer most of things I really need for a $150 saving.
However, I'd like to get some thoughts on the relative value proposition from the helpful membership of this forum.
Which model would you choose and why? |

I have 3590LMT Europe because I love multi touch screen. You can test both screens. ;) |

| I chose the 2595 because it met most of my needs. The powered mount is the only feature I really wanted, but not for an extra $150. Can *grumble* live with the screen's manual dual-orientation. Digital 3D traffic isn't available here in Canada. Didn't care about the multitouch/extra pixels, 3D buildings/terrain, Bird's Eye junction views, myTrends, safe Texting. |

Actually your post is a good summary of what you get for your $150 extra. . Really the powered mount and glass dual oriented, multitouch screen would be worth it IMO. |

I have tried both the 3590LMT and the 2595LMT. While I liked some of the features of the 3590LMT, I finally returned it. On the other hand, I am keeping the 2595LMT, in spite of it not having a powered mount. The fact that it is $150 less is a bonus.
The reasons I returned the 3590LMT were the glare and reflections from it's glass screen. During the daylight hours, everything is reflected! It's similar to the difference between a glass plasma screen and a plastic LCD screen. I's suggest going to a brightly lit store which sells televisions and look at the reflections on the screens. If the reflections on the plasma screen don't bother you, then you'll probably be OK with the 3590LMT. On the other hand, if they do bother you, then you'll find the reflections on the 3590LMT unbearable.
In my opinion, if Garmin was going to use a glass screen for the 3590LMT, it should have been the matte type; unfortunately, they chose the glossy type because it looks brighter and more impressive. |

Overcome 3590 Screen Glare
I overcame Screen Glare on the 3590 a few months ago, in conjunction with its placement on an Air Vent Mount. Previously, glare was just an annoyance to me, but some others find it a constant irritant, and a few have declared it a "deal breaker," such that they have returned their units. I think it very unfortunate that the overall superior features and operation of the 3590 have not been popular enough to outweigh the disadvantage of screen glare, at least for some persons.
I used to deal with glare by turning my 3590 a bit to the right or left, which was usually enough to make the screen visible enough on at least one side...until turns in the road brought the problem back again. Now, I TILT THE NUVI JUST A BIT UPWARDS (towards the cabin ceiling), until I find a "sweet spot," where there is NO glare anywhere on the screen. It takes just a little bit of a gentle touch for me to position it perfectly. For me, that adjustment makes a significant difference in screen viewability.
Once I set the mount correctly, I do NOT have to readjust it, in response to turns. I do sometimes misadjust the mount, when taking the Nuvi off or putting it back on...but then reset it UPWARDS to the “sweet spot,” after driving a bit.
Perhaps it makes a difference that I have the 3590 on an Arkon Vent Mount, in the center of the dash, and just above the Camry radio: I don't know how this trick will work on "beanbag" or "friction" mounts, which are set atop the dashboard. I look forward to hearing from others who try this simple solution to screen glare.
[NOTE: Credit for the above "anti-glare solution" belongs to a Nuvi 3790 owner: I don't know if I would have ever discovered it on my own.]

Thanks for the feedback.
A couple of thoughts on the screen glare issue...
First, I would NEVER mount a GPS on the windshield or on top of the dash. As far as I'm concerned, it HAS to be below the dash line to avoid nasty light and glare problems.
Second, I wonder if a screen protector like the ZAGG invisibleShield would ameliorate the problem (or make it worse)? It does seem to help reduce glare on my smartphone.
Another thumbs up for the Arkon mounts. I installed an Arkon vent mount on the wife's Camry for her iPhone and it works great!
