Hello everyone I dont know much about Powered mounts. Is this dashboard powered mount from Garmin easy to install for yourself and does stay put on the dashboard? Here is the link for the Nuvi Powered Mount : https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=88088
Thanks

A lot depends on which Nuvi it's for. All Nuvis use a common ball-mounting system which attaches and detaches easily from the Nuvi itself or its cradle, leaving only the arm on the dash. The one you point to is for certain specific Nuvis which have only a mini-USB connector for their power cord connection. If your Nuvi has the edge-connector on its bottom which mates with a powered cradle, it won't work with this mount.

This specific type of powered mount gives you a permanent attachment on the dash onto which the mounting arm and clip for the Nuvi go. It also appears to have a separate power converter which wires directly to the vehicle's power system and bypasses the regular cigarette lighter cord. WARNING: This precludes the use of a traffic cable... If you have a traffic-capable Nuvi, it will not receive traffic info from this power connection method.

According to the directions, a one-button mechanism takes the entire arm, Nuvi, bracket and power cord off the dash. You then snap a small cover onto the permanent mount to hide it (sort of). It still has its own feed cable going undr the dash. This cable may be hidden by drilling a hole through the dash under the permanent mount of course...

ST-Bob thanks for the answer. I am getting the Garmin 2595LMT the new ones and yes its Traffic-capable. " WARNING: This precludes the use of a traffic cable... If you have a traffic-capable Nuvi, it will not receive traffic info from this power connection method" There never mention this.
So I will just get the "common ball-mounting system which attaches and detaches easily from the Nuvi itself or its cradle, leaving only the arm on the dash" Is there a good one you can Recommend to me
Thanks

They do indeed mention this on Garmin's web pages for the permanent mount. You just have to read the whole thing (as you should before buying ANYTHING online in my opinion). It clearly says:

This accessory is not compatible with nüvi 600, 700 and 800 series or traffic-enabled models.
