Hi,
I installed MioPocket on my Chinese rearview GPS running WinCE6.0 and everything has initially looked as expected (a bit slow but it's fine as it's due to the lazy cpu) until I figured out that actually the WinCE desktop does not start anymore thru Miopocket nor thru the original manufacturer software. I tried ceDesktop but it does not start either... No error message, it just ends without doing anything.

Even worse, the bluetooth app does not start... It definetly used to work and it really bugs me as I cannot use my phone anymore.
When I go in Control Panel, BT applet, I click on the scan button but it gives me an error saying that the device is not detected.......
This Chinese PNA has no reset capability (ie I cannot press a button to flash it to the original configuration), so I am stuck...

Everything used to work with the original configuration but I do not what I broke. Uninstalling MioPocket did not help as the initial configuration was not restored.

Please feel free to comment and suggest anything that you think that can help... Any information will be highly appreciated.

Regards,
aegyssus

Hi,
Thanks for reading my thread... Here is more info on my problem, hopefully it will ring any bell.
I try to understand first how BT works in wince... and how I can figure out whether it does work or not.
The registry has this in HKLM\Drivers\Active\29:
ClientInfo REG_DWORD 0
Hnd REG_DWORD 3503082080
Key REG_SZ Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Driver
Name REG_SZ BTD0:

Question: Does this mean that the bluetooth adapter was found? Is BTD0: an existing device for Wince?
I ask this as Control Panel launched from MioPocket4 says "Bluetooth hardware error 10050 (controller not present)" and I try to understand where the OS fails to communicate with BT. Is this error saying that the driver did not initialize correctly? Or it's just the control panel's applet having trouble to connect to the bt device...?

Anyway, HKLM\MTKBT says:
Status REG_DWORD 0
and I guess it simply means that bt could not be activated and, consequently it's not usable by MTK's shell, nor by Windows or MioPocket.

Also, whatever application I start from a MioPocket file browser, it will hang when it will attempt opening a file, hanging on the open file window. For example, I start wt6explr.exe in Windows folder; this app will automatically popup the "Open File" window trying to list the files in order for the user to select the right one. Here this window will not show anything in the file list, no navigation buttons but a grey background. I will be able to write the name of the file and also to click on pull down list of file types which never populates but as I do not have the OK button to click nor the X to close the window... the app just hangs. The same happens for any other app that tries to open a file.
I guess this is related to the fact that I can't start WinCE desktop (with its start button and apps) but I do not know how.

Thanks for sharing any thoughts... hopefully somebody saw this before and has at least an workaround.

... neither Windows CE nor MioPocket makes use of BT ...

... as several times statet in MioPocket official thread MP isn't for CE 6 devices ...

... MioPocket always creates a backup of HKLM\init you need to restore unit to its pre-installation state ...

... MioPocket restores system if its inbuilt REMOVE option is used ...

Thanks so much for your answer, kgm! I know that all my trouble is due to misusing MP but I try to understand now how I can get as closer possible to the initial configuration.

I definitely missed that part on not installing MP on wince6 but, most likely, the remove function did not fully restore the registry as, since then BT & Wince explorer do not work.

In the meantime, while playing with settings, I changed BootUpTurnOn from 0 to 1 in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Transports\BuiltIn\1 and that activated bluetooth in Windows... So when I go Control Panel, Bluetooth settings I can scan devices. Pairing does not work but what concerns me most is that BTSuite.exe (which, I assume, is the device's software) does not start and no error message is shown.

So I still have to investigate to see what can be done. Also, Windows explorer does not open... so still no task bar.
Thanks for your help.

Just to add a conclusion to this: I ended up by flashing my device back to its firmware. Unfortunately I did not find the very same version but it looks and works like before. I'll relax for a while.

This got WinCE to turn BT on get Bluetooth on, Then with a program called phoneui.exe iGO could access Mio's BT app from thier original menu,
The Navman S150 was almost the same

So this wont be exactly the same for you, but it's gives you somewhere to start
