Hello GPSpassion, This is my first post here and I was hoping that somebody might be able to help me identify this part in the following picture from a Nuvi 750, but possibly same component across different models. The chip removed from this board was cooked and no longer had any markings on it. I was hoping that somebody could share a good picture that I can use to identify the numbers. Or if anybody has a dead nuvi board that I can salvage that peice from I would be interested. Thank you. -Joe higher resolution can be found here http://www.flickr.com/photos/79629767@N04/7298151354/

Welcome to our forum Joe.
There maybe someone here that can help you but in case there isn't you may want to look at http://www.sharc.net/gps_repair.htm and use the Contact Us link to drop them an e-mail with your picture. An alternative could also be to post on their forum at http://www.sharc.net/discus/messages/6/419.html?1336761838 . Jim , the president of Sharcnet is a member here and has been very helpful to our members, both with repairs and with his knowledge of the insides for these things.

Hello Joe,
from my experience I would suggest, that the missing part is a ESD protector. If it was "fried" something/-one might have discharged a little too much. I guess you will need something like this: http://www.semtech.com/images/datasheet/rclamp0502a.pdf, though I guess this specific part has a differing pin out.

NanaimoRick, Sorry about quoting the post above mine. Wont happen again. But you seem to have also deleted the post by Landscaper2009. |

| Not sure how I could have done that as I just edited out the quote in your post. Maybe Landscaper deleted his own post. |
