Hi. My first time with this group. Pls let me know if I am not going about this correctly.
I have a 3790 LMT (about 2 yrs old). A problem recently surfaced where the 'lighted display screen' would go 'off' when the power cord is plugged in (either way...AC cord or the lighter DC cord). When I unplug the cord, the screen lights normally. I have not replaced the battery. Any help ? Thanks kindly. Scott

Welcome to our forum Scott. Your problem is unique in that normally plugging the 3790 into either the AC or DC adapters will brighten the screen, not turn it off. Sounds like it probably some kind of a hardware issue. You may want to discuss it with Garmin support at:

...or, somehow, you've got the screen brightness all the way down while running on DC power. There are 4 settings the device uses for screen brightness --

1) Daytime on battery
2) Daytime on DC / plugged in
3) Nighttime on battery
4) Nighttime on DC / plugged in

Each setting is adjusted while in that mode - generally.

Do you have any screen at all while plugged in, enough to get to the screen brightness controls?

Steve....you are the man. Thank you very much. Don't know how that setting got changed but a good bet that I did it indiscriminately....I'm always fiddling with the thing. At any rate adjusting it for the 'mode it was in' corrected it as you suggested. Thank you again. Scott
Rick...thank you also for your suggestion. Appreciate your interest in my problem.
This is the first time I've ever used a forum. Very positive experience. Thanks to all who considered my problem. Scott
