Hi,
I've a RM5045 with firmware v4.92 and North america maps v41.3, i've accidentaly erased some files (don't know wich of them) during a USB connection with my computer, then i tried to start it, i just got the first Logo of Magellan and nothing else,
Is there any way to get it start, anyone have a Hard Drive Image or a solution for that?

Thanks.

rhendri2002:

I JUST HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN WITH MY ROADMATE 5045-LM. I SUCCESSFULLY INTALLED THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE BUT WHEN I STARTED THE MAP UPGRADE I GET AN ERROR MESSAGE SAYING THE FIRMWARE IS NOT COMPATIBLE FOR THIS GPS. NOW, JUST LIKE YOU'RE EXPERIENCING, ALL I GET IS THE MAGELLAN LOGO WITH THE CLOCK ICON SPINNING. I'VE SENT NOTES TO THE MAGELLAN "HELP DESK" BUT THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION. I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH MAGELLAN AT THIS POINT. I'M AFRAID MY UNIT IS TOAST AND WOULDN'T YOU KNOW -- IT'S 6 MONTHS PAST THE 1 YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD. I WISH SOMEONE HAD A SOLUTION FOR THIS.

Couldnt you load the files from someone else's 5045? What if you loaded from another model?

I just don't know someone owning that model to test it, I'm wondering if someone can upload that files, I'll see if i can install an other model firmware,

Have you had any luck finding these files? I wiped my 5045 accidentally and will need these to recover it. Thanks.

No luck at all -- Magellan did offer to send me a refurbished 5045 if I sent my non-working one back to them so that's what I did. I had to pay shipping, of course, but it was more than I expected them to offer because my unit was over the "1 year warranty" period.

Would you mind extracting the system files from the device you got and sharing with me, in particular the unit_id.dat in SYS/USBTRANS folder (you can delete your serial number in that file)? My email is aioriapku_at_gmail.com. Thanks so much!
