Does anybody have a list of the Garmin Nuvis that use a powered cradle? My Garmin Nuvi 350 power connects to the cradle, but my wife's Garmin Nuvi 500 connects directly to the power cable.

will the cable from the powered cradle fit into the slot on the direct unit and vice a versa? If it does I would suspect that you could use ether model providing the cradle holds it. The problem I see is that you lose the convenience of just snapping the unit in. You will have to disconnect the power cord every time.

That won't work because the plugs(pinouts) are different sizes. The 7x0 and 7x5 series' also have powered cradles.

The USB power cable most probably is compatible with nuvi 500. You can check its part number at the garmin site.

It's not a Nuvi, but so does my Montana 600. . The interesting thing about that is, it uses the old-style multi-pin locking connector on the power cable.
