Changelog suggests may have fixed the problem with the upper left Directional window disappearing.

Thanks for bringing the update to our attention. I wish Garmin would notify us when firmware updates were available. Having to connect a USB cable to check My Dashboard is not exactly a convenient way to stay on top of the latest updates.

Changes made from version 4.70 to 4.80:

Updated to comply with France Safety Camera decree.
Fixed a bug that caused the device to lose turn information while recalculating a route when near a junction.
Fixed a bug that caused the unit to freeze when receiving traffic information from a GTM36 cable.

Drove about 1K miles the last two days with v4.80 and 2012.40 maps. Forced recalculation with a few short pit stops, and the disappearing turn/lane assist indicator seems to be fixed.

You can log on to myGarmin and have Garmin e mail you notifications of updates

Having logged on click on MyAccount (top right) and then Manage E-mail notifications

From what I've seen, the software feed doesn't list updates that are distributed by webupdater.

That may be true, TBH while I get them I don't pay much attention to them, as I check my devices by looking at links like

After updating my nuvi3790LMT to 4.8 version all of a sudden I've revealed that my traffic icon completely disappeared . I've rebooted my nuvi and no success. Of course, tools/navigation/ traffic is enabled and subscription is lifetime. Does anybody has this problem after updating to 4.8 version?

Have you done a hard reset since you did the firmware update? Always a good idea.

There's always a new update available if you use myDashboard or at least it seems that way.

It's always better to use Webupdater so you know what updates are available and you can select the ones you really need. Your updating with a blindfold on using myDashboard for anything but map updates.
