I don't know why your original post was deleted but I'm afraid I can't help you. Read back through the topics to find where it was last found. It was a truck accessory dealer network I believe.

As far as it being a paperweight - blame the global economic meltdown, not us... Lowrance sold out to global super-mega-giant Navico and effectively orphaned the entire automotive GPS line. Nothing to do but suck it up and either deal with the older maps or buy another brand.

P.S. All caps is considered YELLING and is impolite. You won't get many answers that way.

I have read / tried every link out there to guide me to a place where I can buy these files....It is so frustrating to know they are out there and the companies responsible dont care about us who bought their product.

I would never support pirating or stealing these files, but I sure wont loose sleep if I ever get them in torrent form since I have gone really out of my way to buy them legally and the Lowrance does not give a darn. I dont think they would care if anyone "steals" them......we are totally alone as far as customer support with Lowrance

Here's the facts - hard as they my be to accept; the are still the facts.

The "Lowrance Corporation" who built your iWay no longer exists. They can't help you because they're gone - kaput - pfft...

Lowrance bought the raw data files for the iWay maps from NavTeq and massaged the data, creating the map updates we've bought in the past. This was a huge task each year and cost a lot of money - very little of which was ever recouped by sales of the updates. There weren't apparently, enough units out there to make it worthwhile but Lowrance still did it to support us.

Lowrance made a truck-specific version of the iWay 500c and 600c for Kenworth and Peterbuilt. These had an extra data file on them for PACCAR truck dealers in North America but were otherwise pretty much standard iWay models.

Lowrance's automotive division could not make a profit competing against multinational giants Garmin and TomTom. Lowrance stopped development at some point (2007-2008) and didn't intend to buy any more map updates from NavTeq. Their automotive division's budget was slashed and several key players left the company.

Daryl Lowrance sold Lowrance Corporaton to Navico; at which time Lowrance became a unit of Navico and under their direct control. More key people left Lowrance's GPS and automotive division and an infusion of money funded further development of their HDS line of fish-finders, radars and other marine instruments. Nothing much was left of the automotive division at this point.

Some time in 2009 or 2010 the Kenworth/Peterbuilt people fought with Navico to get a new version of the NavTeq maps built for distribution through their PACCAR network of dealers. This was a one-time development project and was poorly debugged from all reports. It may have been a legal requirement of a contract with Kenworth/Peterbuilt. When the limited production run of update DVDs was all sold, there were no more coming and likely never will be. NavTeq didn't produce the update DVD - Lowrance/Navico did from NavTeq data they purchased. NavTeq cannot make update DVDs as they don't have the software to do so - only the raw data.

Face it - there are no more to be had. Even if some are in the hands of iWay owners, they are still copyrighted material and licensed to be used ONCE on ONE iWay unit per DVD. The "old" Lowrance no longer exists but Navico now owns the copyrights and will defend them if pressed. The current owner, Navico, owes you nothing and won't help.

In short - you're S.O.L. Sorry; but that's the way it is. None exist anymore and if they did (as illegal copies for example) we here at gpspassion.com could not talk about them or offer assistance in any way in promoting the illegal distribution of copyrighted material.

This subject is now closed. Please don't keep bringing it up as it's obvious that there are no more to be had anywhere. Further discussion will only lead down the road to talk of 'sharing' or copying updates that those lucky few did manage to purchase and I can't have that.

Sorry - but facts are facts...

And have been explained many times before (thanks for doing it again). A quick search would have shown that, instead our friend prefers to barge in, flood the forums and yell at us, his account has been suspended.
