I really liked my iWay 500c and but for the out-of-date maps, poor reception, and massive weight, still do. In fact I bought a spare off eBay last year just to make sure I could keep using an iWay 500c.
But the map thing is getting nettlesome and it would be handy to be able to easily swap between the motor home and towed vehicle and home/office.
I bought a Garmin nuvi 3750 and it's kinda/sorta OK. It has a beautiful display and comes in a slick package. The satellite reception is good. Portability is excellent. But the functionality is not like the iWay 500c.
Is there any GPS out there that comes close to the iWay 500c in terms of functionality? What, if anything, did you replace your aging 500c with?
Thanks,

I went for an older model Nuvi; the 750. It does many of the things I need that the 500c/600c did but is still not an exact replacement. The other one that's pretty good is the Nuvi 1490 but as the models get newer it seems Garmin dumbs them down even more. Current models have that awful "trip planner" instead of the "routes" function and show less and less street and city info as the years roll onward.
Still, it does what I need it to do and it quite portable. |

| Thanks, Bob. Yeah, you're sure right about them being dumbed down. That "trip planner" has helped me sharpen my obscenity skills on more than one occasion. |
