I have a GO 920t that I bought new a couple of years ago. At the same time, I bought a 16 GB SD card and installed it successfully and it has functioned properly for as long as I've had the unit until a few months ago when I performed a map update.
About the time my 920t stopped making sounds a few months ago, I got a new phone (HTC Evo 3D) and connected it via Bluetooth but found right away that it was not completely compatible so I tried to unbind it.
This may be related to my 'no sound' problem so maybe someone can help with this -- when I go into the 920's menu to remove the phone it advises me to make the phone discoverable and then searches and finds it, but it connects it rather than disconnecting it. It's almost as if the algorithm gets confused and starts connecting the phone instead of disconnecting it.
Following the map update and attempt to connect my phone via Bluetooth, I get no sound whatsoever from my GPS unit. It used to make a sound when it started up, but not anymore.
Another weird event happens occasionally, but not everytime I restart the unit. Sometimes upon start-up, the unit advises me that I am not physically located within the boundaries of the map it thinks is the default map and offers to change to North America. Since I am in North America, I wonder why it tries to default to a different map (I think it is Guam which is the only map located on my internal storage).
No other problems are evident to me.
I have the most current North America map and my Western Europe maps are the original ones that came installed on my device but I have moved them to the SD card and there is plenty of room to spare. So I don't think the problem is caused by a lack of storage space. There is also plenty of space left on the internal memory.
I've searched these forums, TomTom's forums and done numerous Google searches of the internet without finding information that can restore the sound function to my unit.
At this point I believe the cause of the problem is associated with the map update and/or bluetooth connection to my cell phone but if someone knows how to diagnose this more precisely, I'd be happy to try.
I replaced my computer earlier this year but failed to make a new back-up of my 920t while it was still operating properly, so I cannot restore.
Is there a list of files and folders that should be installed on the SD Card and in internal memory that I can use to verify I have the right files stored on the right storage media under the given configuration (i.e. maps stored on SD)?
I realize this is a multi-part question so any help with any portion is appreciated very much.
Thanks... |
