Right on schedule, it appears that the next version of City Navigator North America (2012.30) is available for download.
I haven't downloaded it yet but it appears as an available download in myGarmin. |

Download/install of 2012.30 Canada and border states and Mapsource took approximately an hour for my 1490. New JCV file is 44.3 MB (D3153040A.JCV). 4 junction views on @NanaimoRick's test route from Dufferin St. to Toronto Pearson Airport.
EDIT: I read in another forum that Garmin are providing a full 757MB JCV file here: http://download.garmin.com/support/2012_30/NA/JV/D3060040A.JCV |

| I have installed NA 2012.30 on both my 755T and 855 nuvis. I used map install (not lifetime updater) on both. On the 755T I got the large JCV file as part of the map install. On the 855 I got the small JCV as indicated by WAASup. There was sufficient room in internal storage on both units to hold the full NA map and large JCV. So I replaced the small JCV file on my 855 with the large one from the 755T. Both units are now working well with the new maps and the full coverage JCV files. |

That is correct. Just click the link and it will allow you to download the full JV file which is 757.29KB in size. |

I am not having much luck with getting 2012.30 onto my nuvi 760. FIrst it said there is not enough room, so I said yes to the offer to remove jpegs and audio -- though I have no audio and only one tiny jpeg. It "removed" them and said OK to the install, then after a long time threw an error message saying not enough room. So I went back and tried again with just US & Canada, and we'll see, but this time it did not offer the option to install on my computer, so I may have to do a third download.
I haven't tried my zumo yet -- think I'll hold off.

Rick Do I download the 757mb jcv file to my downloads and then copy it to the 3790T. I had the 3790T connected to the computer and downloaded the file but got a message that I did not have a program to run it. bobaber |

You don't need the GPS connected to download the JCV file. Once it is on your computer, copy it to the JCV folder on your GPS and remove any existing JCV files (save them on your computer just in case).

| Thanks danham, I'll do that tomorrow. The download speed from Garmin is very low tonight, I guess thier servers are loaded. |

| My 755T got the big (~700MB) .jcv file with 2012.30 update. I didn't have to download it separately. |

| Thanks for the update... Downloading the update for my 1490LMT right now (and the large JCV file onto the SD card - just as before - otherwise it won't fit).... |

Someone please correct me if Im wrong, but I believe that the 400meg version is for the split screen Junction view and the 700Megs is for full screen right? The 700megs does not have more junction views than the 400megs version.

Tried them both on the 3790. Smaller one does split screen in portrait and landscape orientation. Large one does split screen only in portrait orientation. |

Based strictly on very local stuff, this map update appears to have more little fixes than any previous one -- road layouts cleaned up, names fixed, etc.
I have no idea if this is because my area was in need of fixes and they finally got around to us [grin], or if the entire map database has seen similar attention. Still, a good sign.

I tried installing this new map update on my nuvi 3750 with option 2. Nothing happened, no down load just said device recognized and clicking download button did nothing.
So I installed the dreaded option 1 lifetime map updater. It worked like a charm. Guess Garmin fixed the lifetime map updater. I think even though option 2 is a choice it has been disabled. |

I used option 2 and it certainly had its issues (took three tries and two full downloads to get US/Canada on my 760 and the full NA on my computer), but it is definitely not disabled, just mildly handicapped [g].

| Just used my test simulation for Toronto (3500 Dufferin Ave, North York to Pearson Airport) and I'm seeing more speed limits on the 401 Collector Lanes than in 2012.20. Hopefully we'll find more speed limit data for other parts of Canada as well. |
