Garmin has released a large .jcv file available as a separate download for the 2012.20 map update. It was released for 7x5 series and Zuma 660/665 only. However, I've read several reports where it is working with some other units too, including 1490T. https://forums.garmin.com/showpost.php?p=103430&postcount=29

On my A10 with EU Maps I installed the NA maps as an upgrade, and the JV was never installed for the US maps, whilst it was there for the EU maps (except for the recent GLMU fiasco).
Do you think that if I intall this file on my A10 I will get JV? |

The 2012.20 NA update for my zumo 660 came with a JCV file of 52.2 MB, replacing the 47.2 file that was on there (it originally came with a 49.4 MB file). I see no difference in a route from Cape Cod to NYC, which still shows only one junction view -- pretty inadequate for a complex route in a crowded urban area.
I downloaded and installed the 752 MB file and it shows eight junction views on the same route.

| Does anyone know where the JCV file is on the 1695? I have looked in every folder but can't find it anywhere. |

| In in .system/JCV. .system is a hidden system files so you need to set your Folder Views Options in Windows to not hide hidden files and folders and to show Systems files before you'll see it. |

| I put the large jcv file D3060030A.jcv in my 3790. Seems to have the same number of JVs as the 468MB file, in the areas I tried. However they all displayed full screen with no Lane Assist, and no split screen in vertical or horizontal orientation. |

| I think that is correct geezer. The 752MB JCV file is full screen display only and not intended for nuvi models that support split screen JV's. If you have one of these newer models you are better off sticking with the 468MB file. If I put the 468MB JCV file on my older 755 and 855 nuvi's I get the reverse problem ... narrow JV images in the center of the screen with white bars on each side of the image. |

I've done a bunch more reading on this and there's an important caveat: the new large JCV file works with map version 2012.20 and only that version. It will not work with older maps and it will almost definitely not work with the next update version, so we have to hope Garmin also issues a new full JCV file with the next map update.

| The large JCV file doesn't work on the 2360 either. In fact when I renamed it and went back to my original JCV file, it wouldn't work either - I had to delete the large JCV file and my original JCV file again works. |

I actually put the large 700+mb file on my 3790 and here is what I found:
- A LOT more views than on the 3790's 446MB regular file. My test area was from Vancouver BC to Mesa Arizona. Many more views in California and Arizona than with the regular 2012.20 JV file.
- all views are full screen with no split screen views available in landscape mode but are available in portrait mode.
- views remain on the screen for only a short period of time in landscape mode, probably so you can get back to the regular map screen faster as it's hidden by the view. With split screen, in portrait mode, the view would remain on the screen until the turn/maneuver displayed in the view was reached/past. |

Has anyone had any luck getting this to work on an SD card?
I put the file inside \Garmin\JCV on a 4 GB micro-SD card that has been working fine to import routes and store mp3s and my zumo 660 stopped showing any junction views (I tried removing the JCV files from its internal Garmin folder and even removing the JCV folder). Putting the file back in the zumo's internal JCV folder fixes everything, but I'd love to have back the nearly 800 MB it takes up [g].

@danham,
I got it working on my 1490LMT. Just created a folder Garmin\JCV on the microSD Card and put the huge JCV file in that folder. Then with the Nuvi ON, I slid the microSD card into the Nuvi slot and created a route from New York to Philadelphia and I had JCVs galore. I also deleted the originally installed JCV file from the device disk (the smaller 51MB one). |
