Hi I'm new to this forum so hope I'm posting in the correct thread.
I have a GPS103-B Vehicle Tracker like this one.

http://coban.en.alibaba.com/product/305967920-200234363/Car_GPS_tracking_device_with_location_address_on_server_and_sms_message.html

When I set it up I must have set it up wrong as it will not take commands from my iphone via text message. I can only arm it with the supplied remote when armed and the door is opened the alarm goes of and I get a text door open and the vehicle cordanation.
What I'd like to know anyone know how to reset the unit if battery is removed or run flat will this reset the firmware?
There is also a usb connection on the unit it's smaller than any I've come across before, What about a cable to fit this anyone know about one of these?
Regards
Harry

I've taken the unit apart so here are some images of the inside.
the black wire that's hanging from the top of the board is the antenna for the remote key fob.
Regards.

What do you mean by resetting the unit ?
1) Hardware reset ?
2) Leaving the ARM state/mode ?

For 1), press reset button but it will not leave the ARM state
For 2), press B on the remote or send SMS disarm

Whatever the battery health is (internal or external), the unit keeps the lateste state programmed.
One example: if the siren was going off and you power off the unit, the siren will go off again as soon as you power up ...

Sorry about taking so long to reply. I've been away for a couple of weeks.
I think the password needs reset when I try & send a text to the unit it will not reply..If I call the unit it hangs up after 1 or 2 rings the it replys with a text giving details of where about's in the world it is. The model I have is the one with the remote fob so I can arm the alarm by pressing A on the fob this works ok when unit is armed and the door is opened the alarm goes of and sends a text to my phone telling me that the car door has been opened.
I have tried pressing the red reset button also tried via text but this does not work I would like to set the unit back to manufacture settings and start all over again.
It says in the book if I lose the password I need to upload the software to reset it but what software and how? there is a small pc socket some kind of mini usb I think but have tried different cables but as yet have not got one that will fit.

Is this the manual? I have it already. There is no mini usb socket shown on the unit in this manual but there is one on mine.

Hi! I am planning to buy a GPS103-B. Currently I own a Xexun TK103-2, but I have stability issues. It regularly gets disarmed on its own which leaves my car unprotected.
As I understand from RC200's words, this tracker keeps last state (armed/disarmed/active siren) even if the battery is removed and reinserted. So I guess if the tracker restarts itself because of a software error, it will still remain in armed state and I won't have problems like I had with Xexun TK103-2.

However I've seen there are a couple of different versions out there with the name GPS103-B. Do you guys have one with "Coban" brand?
Does it send coordinates with wxlxy.com or maps.google.com links?
I don't know where to order a reliable tracker from.
Once I ordered a TK102-2 from ebay and it was a piece of crap. I don't want to play the same game with GPS103-B.
I believe maps.google.com versions are better, because I don't trust wxlxy.com does not keep track of the sent coordinates (it also has an ID in the SMS links with which it is possible to identify where a certain tracker is in the world).

Does anyone have a version that has maps.google.com links, has remote controller and a shake sensor as well? If so:
1) How does the shake sensor perform?
2) Does the shake sensor detect movement and does the alarm go off reliably when the car starts to move (provided that neither doors are opened nor the engine is started, eg. it is towed)?
3) Does shake detection get activated when the tracker is armed via the remote controller and disabled when it is disarmed?
4) Suppose the tracker is armed via the remote controller and it gets reseted, eg. battery is disconnected and internal battery is switched off and on. In this case does it stay in armed state, and does it alarm even after being reseted? This is very important, because if the tracker gets restarted for any reasons I would like it to still protect my car!
5) In GPRS mode (or with t005s***n123456 SMS command) how frequently can the tracker send the coordinates? TK103-2 was capable of sending every 5 seconds, though it is ARM7 based.
6) Where did you order the tracker from?
7) Approximately how much does it cost?

It seems I randomly can't reach www.cobanch.com website. Do you experience similar difficulties?

And one more question, which I found very important for me.

8) When silent mode is enabled the tracker does not alarm loudly, only sends SMS alert. This is what I need, because I don't want the tracker to be found by the thief. On the other hand if silent mode is enabled, I think arm/disarm does not make any sound, meaning the tracker won't beep once when armed and twice when disarmed. Is that right?
How will I know then that the tracker has really been armed/disarmed?

@RC200:
I saw in TK103-2 experiences topic that you dissected a GPS103-B. I am planning to order a GPS106-B from Coban, but I still have one problem.

I plan to use it in the so called silent mode, because I don't want the tracker to make any loud alert, I want it to alert me only via SMS. Thus the thief probably won't notice that I have an additional GPS tracker besides my car alarm.

However, according to customer support, when in silent mode the tracker does not make ANY sound, not even one beep when armed via the remote and two beeps when disarmed. This is a problem, because I want to acknowledge that the tracker is indeed armed or disarmed, but without the beeps I have no way of knowing if it accepted the key press.

Could you please confirm if the tracker really won't beep when armed/disarmed via the remote controller when silent mode is enabled?

As far as I read, in your GPS103-B D0 and VT have 5V when armed, and D1 and VT have 5V when disarmed, otherwise low level by default.

Do you think it is possible with some additional hardware, eg. with the help of a 5V controlled reed relay to make it sound once when armed and twice when disarmed even when in silent mode? The problem will be that both arm and disarm will sound only once, since when the D0 and D1 has 5V it will close the reed relay, that will make the beeper beep once.

What I want is to make it beep once when armed, twice when disarmed, just like in normal (non-silent) mode, but I also don't want it to alert loudly, that's why I would use silent mode in the first place. Do you think if that is possible?

BTW, are these D0, D1 and VT outputs or inputs of the microcontoller? Or these are signals for the additional remote controller chip? Do D0 and D1 have 5V only when A and B buttons are pressed and they are not used for any other purposes?

Thank you in advance for your kind help!

@RC200: what is your overall experience of GPS103-B? Is it reliable? Is the hardware / software of good quality?
I am thinking of buying a Meitrack MVT600 instead, especially since they promised to add arm/disarm functionality in a few months, probably because of my continuous pushy attitude :) Their user manual, tracker and customer support seem far superior to Coban's, but I have experience only from reading their manual and concacting their sales department.

I am planning to make one last purchase and that tracker should work 100% of the time. I have already tried a Noname TK102, a Coban TK102, a Xexun TK103-2. I don't want to get any more gadgets. I just want to have reliable car protection solution that works very reliably, does not disarm itself, can give good real-time tracking if needed (eg. 5-10 seconds refreshment).

My only concern with GPS103-B / GPS106-B is that it is STC based, which is a little outdated, so it cannot provide coordinates more frequently than 20-30 seconds. Also the manual is pretty awful, just like most Chinese product's.
What is your experience with it in every day use?
Does the arm/disarm work reliably? Does it always provide coordinates as requested?
When car is out of GPS coverage (eg. in a parking lot under the mall) will it provide the last known coordinate (eg. at the entrance of the mall)?

@GPSman:
I have exactly the tracker GPS103B shown on the pics above.
And manual is this one : http://www.zhyichina.com/en/GPSTracking/GPS103CarTrackerManual.pdf
I'm sorry I let it aside till now, it's going to be installed in about 2 weeks definitively (I removed my Haicom 601VT for this GPS103B).
It takes me some time because I always need to add some wiring in my trackers to link them to my car alarm.
Here are my mods:
_Purpose is to arm/disarm tracker from the car alarm remote. From the top of my head, D0 goes to SLC pin 8 through a NPN transistor and D1 to SLC pin 9 through NPN transistor (VT is not used). So, SLC inputs for arm and disarm are active low.
_be informed through the tracker the car alarm is going off (I'm obliged to use ACC input to do so, my car siren is 12V when going off, so this is input to ACC)
_remote led, remote switch.
_sensor input is default high level, 3.3V --> diode --> pull-up resistor

So, more detailed news about usage in about 2 weeks (I already tested it deeply on the bench but it makes a while).
I found it quite reliable, exception is when the siren goes off and if you press disarm B, the siren will finish its 30s cycle, what is pretty annoying.
According to user manual and my own feeling, silent mode doesn't remove the siren beep when arming A and disarming B. To be confirmed.
You're right, on D0, D1 or VT signals, you could add a buzzer, this requires only 1 resistor, 1 NPN transistor and a 12V buzzer or relay.

http://www.toppolino.it/xorse/gps-tracker-mod-gps103-tk103.html

After 1 month of use, this tracker is really reliable.
The GSM/GPRS sensitivity is really good with the crap antenna provided.
Nice features: address123456 to get full postal address of the tracker.
I use www.gpstrackerxyz.com for web tracking in GPRS.

Few concerns:
1) how to cancel at distance SMS reporting (every 3 minutes !!) for power alarm, battery level alarm (...) ?
2) when siren goes off, if you disarm or press B remote button, the siren needs to finish its 30s cycle (painful).

I think I will go further, testing the new GPS106B/TK106B (camera, fuel sensor, temperature sensor)
In my case:
Camera to take pictures
Fuel sensor, don't need that but will replace with car battery monitoring (!), easy, 5V input when full
Temperature, nice gadget
