Just received an e-mail from Garmin support which reads in part:
"The newest map update should be released within the week. Please check your myGarmin account next Monday 05/09/11, to see if the update is available."

I'll get to see if Garmin gives me another update. I bought a refurbished 855 two weeks ago. Once I registered on line, they urged me to update my map to 2011.40, which I did.
Now 2012.10 is being released. I hope they do what I've read they do now. Give you any map updates if they are within the 60 day window. |

| New Garmin policy is to provide ALL map updates released during your 60 day window, go to your myGarmin and you'll be able to get it. |

Guarantee applies to one covered Garmin product. Not transferable to any other person or product. You will qualify for the free map update(s) only if you register your product online at http://my.garmin.com either (i) prior to first using your device, or (ii) within 60 days of first acquiring satellites while driving with your device (the "First Satellite Fix"). If you qualify under one of these two conditions, then you will be entitled to receive one or more free map update during the 60-day period following the date you registered the product or the First Satellite Fix date, which ever is earlier, if and when map updates are available for purchase on Garmin’s website during such period. You will not qualify for free map updates if you register your product with Garmin by telephone or more than 60 days after the First Satellite Fix.

| That's cool, I got the 2460 the end of March and got the 2011.4 update free and if the new update comes out as stated I should be able to get another update for free. |

| I wouldn't hold my breath on that one. It's a FIRMWARE issue, at least on the 3790t. Map update 2011.40 and junction view works just fine on every currently available version of 3790t firmware from 2.50 to 4.00 and I've tried them all...but there's other issues remaining, hence all the different firmware revisions... However, the newest firmware 4.10? Nope. You only see the first JV in a route containing more than one. Garmin has subsequently pulled the 4.10 version, which is a blatant admission that it was the problem. I honestly don't think a new map is going to fix firmware issues. |
