I am having the same problem with write lock error.
I have added mp3 files to this unit in the past and have not seen this error before.
I can't see any mechanism to change the write lock at the disk level.
Can anyone help?

What OS are you running? I've heard of this problem with Windows 7.

Check out this link too http://www.troublefixers.com/remove-write-protection-on-usb-pen-drive-or-memory-card-or-ipod/

thanks for the quick response.

I took your comment about Windows 7 as a potential problem and carried the IW600 over to my old XP laptop and moved the files with no problem whatsoever.

I also realized that I had loaded the previous files from XP.
