| It probably only applies to units that incorporate the different JV format such as Singapore, Malaysia, etc. I don't think it's a configurable option (I don't have nor see it on my US model) unless maybe your unit is set for that locale & you have the proper JVs. |

Remember this problem when using 'prompted' mode to display the faster, shorter and less fuel options for a desired route:

It first appeared in version 3.80, I think, and wasn't corrected in 4.00. It appears that Garmin has made an attempt to correct this display issue as 4.10 doesn't shoot lines all over the screen anymore, BUT in my tests of 3 routes from about 100 miles to 3000 miles the 3790 literally locks up when attempting to switch from one of the route maps to another. I think if you wait long enough it finally draws all 3 maps (at least it did on my 100 mile test) but I wouldn't consider a long calculation time with a locked up device a FIX for the bad screen display.
Also the long promised support for route transfer from Mapsource still doesn't exist as far as I can tell. |

Yes, it looks like they where able to correct the most spectacular bug :) Garmin has no plans to add route transfer, we know this from support emails.
My current list of 37xx most annoying problems looks like this:
1. 37xx doesn't optimize active route when adding via. With multiple via you can get silly, unusable route. See http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=139535
2. Trip planning is no substitute for multiple points routes, navigation with trip isn't usable, see http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=139283
3. 37xx doesn't show POIs from City Navigator. In any mode, nor when browsing map, using pedestrian navigation or creating route to POI.
4. Nuvi doesn't show delay caused by obstacles reported by TMC. You need to swap some screens to check if this is a serious obstacle. This isn't convenient nor safe. Actually this info is not readable, see 7.
5. When finding destination for a route there is no possibility to correct destination on a map. You can't move your destination to nearest parking or other building number. This functionality was present in nuvi 2x5.
6. Disabling autozoom doesn't work correctly. When leaving map screen and returning back, scale is always set to 300m, which is mostly unusable value.
7. Some text messages use very small fonts, probably size 6-7 typographic points. This is for example TMC message about obstacles on your road.
8. There is no Polish TTS voice. Actually we have unofficial and patched beta voice which works in Polish. Why can't Garmin release this voice, since it is selling nuvi in Poland?
9. DEM shading on 37xx works weird. Topo maps are upside down, mountains look like valleys and rivers flow on ridges. You can see it even on basemap.
10. Transfer to SD card is very slow. Safe disconnecting of nuvi form PC works suspicious when SD card is inside.
11. When power supply with TMC receiver looses for a moment connection to lighter socked, nuvi screen is blocked with a message about TMC needing supply. This message blocks navigation info and won't disappear until confirmed manually.
12. Obstacle indications cover road numbers on traffic map.
Problems reported by other users, see details in thread:
13. Custom POIs can't be added to the trip planner.
14. Duplicate search results for Canadian addresses (e.g. city).
15. 37xx US/EU can't use the exif photos for navigation.
16. Traffic icon no longer turns grey when traffic receiver is disconnected/removed. It stays green just as if the receiver were still connected.
17. Nuvi doesn't show version of TrafficProviders.xml in GarminDevice.xml. Because of this there is permanent update of Traffic Providers in WebUpdater.
18. Only one (the first) Junction View is displayed per route, no matter how many exist along the route you are on. This may be specific to Canadian JVs.
19. After arriving at your destination, but before the route is cleared, for some unknown reason 3 hours plus 15 minutes is added to the arrival time displayed.
20. When using Voice Command, you cannot search by Favourite subcategories. So if you have many Favourites it becomes near impossible to choose a Favourite because the list is too long.
21. The distance to turn box in the upper left corner occasionally disappears.
22. There is no possibility to use traffic map in navigation mode like it was possible for example in nuvi 2x5. Traffic map is only available for browsing. Nuvi shows obstacles on standard navigation map, at least I can see it in 4.10.
23. Garmin changed name for trafficTrends, it is called now trafficTrends v2. New name is used in file GarminDevice.xml. This is the reason, why users lose trafficTrends when updating City Navigator maps - there is no trafficTrends v2 in current updates.Problem seems to be corrected with current GarminMapUpdater.

| This update seems to have drastically reduced the number of JVs shown in my area. When they added the photoreal JVs for Canada, they would appear at almost every junction and exit along the highways. With the latest update they seem to be virtually gone. Also to add to the bug list: the duplicate search results for Canadian addresses (e.g. city) has still not been fixed. OTOH, the time to recalculate routes when using trafficTrends and MyTrends seems to have improved significantly. If you have previously turned these features off to speed up your recalculation times, you may want to try it with these features on again. |

Observed issues with nuvi 37xx v4.10:
1. Traffic icon no longer turns grey when traffic receiver is disconnected/removed. It stays green just as if the receiver were still connected. Going to the traffic page shows the message "traffic receiver disconnected" so the issue is with the icon's color change to reflect the receiver's status. The icon previously always changed to grey when the traffic receiver was disconnected/removed.
Edit Upon further testing, I've found that this traffic icon bug was actually introduced with firmware v4.00 and not the recent v4.10. However, it has carried over to v4.10
2. Persistent "Database for Traffic Providers" update through WebUpdater refuses to be recognized by the nuvi as actually being updated. The updated file in nuvidrive:\.System\TrafficProvder.xml is indeed downloaded/updated...you can tell by editing the file and looking at the "version=2.70". This is indeed the most recent version. The nuvi OS is not updating GarminDevice.xml with the updated values (if you edit that file, the Traffic Provider section values listed are Major 0, Minor 0 which -should be- Major 2, Minor 70). Because of this, you'll be getting the persistent update.
Hard resets were performed on my end to eliminate the possibility of strange "glitches"
Backdating the firmware resolves both issues. |

Specifically, and technically, what does a hard reset do? (Delete old files or what?) |

| A hard reset will clear the memory area where settings are stored such as user preferences and will also clear out any satellite almanac data. Files are untouched. |

I'm about 99% sure that this problem has been around since at least version 4.00 as well. I know it was happening before I update to 4.10 yesterday. |

I backdated to v3.90, v4.00 and v4.10 testing for this particular bug. In my testing, it only shows up under v4.10.
The traffic icon bug is not present in v3.90 & earlier but is present in v4.00/v4.10. |
