Garmin has release the newest version of City Navigator North America this morning. Although not showing as available for all users yet, some folks are seeing it in their myGarmin.com accounts.

Garmin is probably phasing in availability to balance load on their servers.

Downloading as we speak - thanks!

General reminder: don't forget to check the "Advanced" option to download the map to your computer for use in MapSource/RoadTrip/BaseCamp.

UPDATE: appears to have installed properly on my 760 and my iMac.

The JVC file has grown to 106414KB in the new map release (CN North America 2011.40). Not sure how many new 'views' there are in this release but the ones in Canada are now the "photo real" views that have been available in the CN Europe release for some time. I understand that there are over 3000 Photoreal junction views for Canada. Sorry US folks but Garmin seems to be a ways away from having them for the United States.

Here are 3 examples of the views in 2011.40. The first 2 are in Toronto and the last one in Vancouver (click on image for larger view):

By comparison here is a junction view from around Seattle that isn't a Photoreal picture:

Thanks for the update, NanaimoRick!

Version 2011.4 is now on my nüvi and Mac.

I love (as a Canadian) photo-realistic junction views! Cool!

Tried to update my 1695 and mygarmin.com is indeed showing the update as available, unfortunately GarminMapUpdater_v2.5.17.exe is complaining that it can't connect to the Garmin servers. Tried deactivating the firewall, no success, maybe a temporary problem.

Excuse me for repeating myself (again!), but the double-results bug for Canadian destination searches and the miscategorization of office supply stores as shopping centers both remain unfixed by Garmin.

Also, the Report Error bug persists. POIs that were previously removed from POI lists by using the "Report Error" button reappear with the map update and any ones that were previously removed can no longer be removed at all.

The only thing I have noticed in the new maps are more junction views, many more even in rural places where I thought they would never be. A bunch of corrections I have sent in, some over a year ago, still haven't been fixed.
Dewi: I think the double-results might be caused by the english/french listings. I've noticed it more in the Ottawa area, where something might be on "Rue Bank" and "Bank Street"

Just downloading as we speak to my 2350 LMT.

I will admit I am having a lot of fun with this unit (it was an an upgrade from an older GPS V).

I had trouble getting Garmin to recognize the new map update thru MyDashboard. If you go to MyMaps, choose Download history and the 2011.40 should be there in the list.

You 2350LMT should have had all the Photoreal JV's already...so you won't see anything more there than you already had...

I just noticed that one of the local streets in Toronto (Finch East and Sandhurst Circle) Sanhurst Circle north of Finch is greyed out on 2011.40. It's still there just dark grey.

I can't say for certain if this existed in 2011.30.

Too early to tell if other changes have appeared.

There are lots of new interchange relocations on the east side of the city on the 401 that don't appear in .30 and an exit on the 404 north of the city that's been in place for a couple of years that still wasn't on version 2011.30.

Nuvi, Nuvi all the way...

On my screen (BaseCamp on an iMac) in 2010.4 it's shown as a full-width street, part of Sandhurst Circle. In all of the 2011.x versions, including 2011.4, it gets a lot narrower, but is not greyed out. It looks like a pedestrian path or alley -- note that the extension of Brimwood Blvd looks the same, where it comes into Sandhurst Circle in the area labeled Woodside Square.

It appears to me that Sandhurst Cirlce between Finch Ave East and Brimwood Blvd is actually in the Woodside Square Mall property and is therefore labeled as a 'private road' within that property. I'm currently in a community in Mesa AZ across from Superstition Springs Center. If you check the intersection of Power Rd and Southern Ave in Mesa, where this Center is located, you will see that all the roads around the 'circle' appear the same as the ones inside the Woodside property.

Although a bit harder to see, E Hampton Road to the east of the Center and Auto Park to the west are both regular streets that grey out when they enter the Center property.

When I request in the advanced options that the downloaded map file update be left on my PC (so that I may transfer it to and update other network PCs that have MapSource), where the heck is it stored???

I realize the question about where to find the maps came from a Windows user, but in case someone is looking for them on a Mac:
