| Downloaded and installed tonight, and used it to a prepare an upcoming trip, not much has changed it seems, not a bad thing really ;-) I was surprised to see the lack of a "favorites" feature, that would be useful. Still you can save routes so that makes up for it partly. |

| Instead of calling it Favorites, Microsoft calls it Pushpins. The feature is accessible via the Legend & Overview pane (Ctrl+G). It may not have the same look and feel like the Favorites feature found in personal navigation devices though, but it's very useful nevertheless. [:)} |

| Thanx. Any user reviews yet? Is it worth the upgrade cost? |

Like I said above I can't see any change with the previous versions, but don't take my word, see it for yourself for free for 60 days ;-)
I tried to connect it to a Bluetooth GPS yesterday but I couldn't get any data flow going. I suspect it's still waiting for a baudrate of 4800 when my GPS was delivering 38400. GPSGate could certainly be used to fix that. |

I downloaded it - upgrade price was $24.95 USD - from previous version. Can't say that it was worth the upgrade in terms of new features. It appears to have more POI - but not much else.

| Yeah, it was purely a map data refresher this year, no new features added. |

| They took away the ability to download your route stops to your gps as favorites - makes it not usable for me as it takes to much time to manually load favorites for a long trip (i take at least two 9000 mile work trips a year with many hotel and work stops. |

The current version of S&T can export to GPX file (Menu > Data > Export to GPX file). Import the resulting GPX file into your navigation device.

Hi all. I'm a complete GPS rookie here, I've never owned one. Until now I've always just used regular paper maps and/or made up and printed routes/directions from MapQuest or GoogleMaps. But now I think it's finally time for me to join the majority of drivers around the world who use a GPS device to navigate. I'll be making a few long road trips next spring from the northeast to the south and back and would like to map out my trips as routes I can follow.
I've been doing some research on GPS units lately and also on mapping software. If I understand what I've been reading correctly, the problem with making a route on your computer and downloading it to your GPS is that most units only transfer the via points not the entire route. I've read that most of the recent nuvi units don't really support true routes, even though Garmin says they do, but in reality they are saving the information as trips in the trip planner and not true routes. I know there are different software programs available and also some units might be able to upload a complete true route if they have the ability and you use the correct mapping software. So my goal is to try to find and match up a compatible GPS device with the correct mapping software to create real routes that I can follow from point A to Z.
So my question is does anyone know for a fact if the latest version of Microsoft Streets and Trips, if used with a GPS that actually can import a true route, will in fact result in a full route displaying properly on the device?
Thanks in advance for any help and info you can give me on this. |

Oh, I forgot to ask. Since I'm already familiar with Google Maps and MapQuest, what about just using one of these programs? I've read that the nuvi units will change your created routes most of the time, sometimes just slightly while other times it will be very different. Could I create routes and get them to display correctly as full routes providing the unit is capable? Also am I correct in thinking that if the full route does display and I put in a lot of waypoints along the routes it will then force the nuvi to follow the path I selected?
Again thanks in advance for any help/info on this. |
