So I just got this email that said search... I assume it's from a forum admin or moderator of some sort.
I'd searched in advance of posting about the 5045 series adverts built into the system. And I've now searched again about the 5045 series adverts that's have been built into the system with exactly the same result as before: There's one single thread in the WHOLE of this entire area for Magellan GPS units with anything at all about the 5045 series units.
So, what exactly am I supposed to be finding with these searches and why was previous post removed?
---
For the sake of simplicity, below is a copy of my previous (and now deleted for I don't know what reason) post:

Ok, so everyone who owns a 5045 (and I'm sure all the other "Free" lifetime traffic PNDs) is being slammed with the same 4 ads over and over again every 4 minutes or so.
Seriously, this garbage has me about to return the unit. I don't want the traffic features to begin with, they work miserably at best and knowing that it's been unlocked with the Mio Pocket software to get @ Windows CE 6 directly (I actually gave it a whirl just to see first hand) there HAS TO BE A WAY TO EDIT OUT AND DELETE THESE ADS!
Anyone been working on this? I'm am MORE than willing to contribute to your work so we can get the hell rid of this garbage.
Worst part is, even on battery power without the in car charger/fm antenna and all traffic features disabled.... still the F'n ads! |

| I would say. Chill out. The ads are the price you pay for the free traffic reports. If the ads bother you then return the unit. Or do what almost everyone else who has one of these units does. Ignore the ads. You can turn off the traffic. I don't know if the ads will go away. It sounds like from what you say, the ads are still there. If the ads make you so angry, I can't imagine how angry really important stuff makes you. Have a nice day. |

I'm not angry, I'm simply sure of what I want. I'm also not a herd animal willing to just "take it". Consumers who do just take it are a problem - but that's an entirely other discussion.
In regard to the 5045 series hardware - I don't want the free traffic reports, they are of utterly no use to me. Secondly I want THIS piece of hardware, it's features, It's screen resolution, It's form-factor and battery life and it's CPU speed and GPS chip with MicroSD expandability.
Therefor removing the ads is a priority.
So, anyone - who's been hacking away at the contents of the /hdd folder and found out where all this is being called from? |

| I honestly can't recall the last time I even noticed the ads. Maybe since I updated the firmware. I don't think I have seen an ad in months. |

| Thanks for the response. I honestly haven't seen them yet. I have to update my free maps and I have been unsuccessful so far. I just was thinking ahead. |
