My 2720 is biting the dust, I think. It constantly goes into the screen calibrate mode but the calibration constantly fails. Then it continuously clicks and does not provide usable information. Can the 2720 be refurbished by Garmin? If so, is it expensive? |

Didn't get any replies. I did get some good info from calling Garmin tech dept. Turns out my 2720 needs big time help. Garmin will send back a reburbished 2720 for $99. My old one id in the mail to Garmin.

| My 2720 lost all satellite reception. I always made all the updates and finally tried rebooting, but all that did was loose my settings. In frustration I opened up the unit with a Phillips head and cleaned off the varnish that accumulated where the detector module slides into a slot attached with two wires on the top of the unit. This worked like magic! All I used was a little alcohol on a rag. I hate the new Garmins and was about to buy another PND probably TomTom. I roil at the idea that Garmin has the hubris to deliver advertising in the LMT models that come with other useless features like photos and bluetooth and no hardware buttons. I like the customization options of the screen on my old 2720. I need solid features not a list of gimmicks to get in the way. I was glad to fix my old unit till Garmin or another manufacturer delivers the goods I want with the reliability. |

You can find complete Garmin 2600, 2700 series on CL for under $100. I bought 2-3 for $50-$75 each still with original box. No one wants the old clunky big unit; which are superior to the new ones as we all know.
I even got a 2620 with a bad drive for parts for $25, then got a 2730 with a bad touch screen for $25 and swapped it out.. |
