Tried to install Miopocket 4.0 R66 on the internal flash disk as 1424 doesn't have SD slot.
Following the readme.txt from Mio
1. Copy the MioAutoRun and Media folders to the root
2. Rename Navigator.exe to Navigator_orig.exe
3. Rename MioAutoRun.exe to Navigator.exe and MioAutoRun.mscr to Navigator.mscr
4. free some space by deleting games.
But it stuck at the GPS signal searching screen. No Mio menu shows up.
How to fix it?
Other questions:
After copied MioAutoRun and Media folders to internal falsh disk, there were no much space left (around several MB).
At least how many MB needed to install Miopocket?
Do we just need to install Mio once or to install every time when reboot the GPS?
What does the installation do? Extracting some files to internal flash disk or loading the app to RAM?
After install Mio, can we use an external USB drive for application storage? (1424 just has 1.7G internal flash disk. No space for all app)

I found "MioAutoRun.mscr: Displaying the startup menu..." in InstallLog.txt
But it stucked there. Checked MioAutoRun.mscr, it located at:
While(not exitScript)
WriteFile(InstallLogFile,"MioAutoRun.mscr: Displaying the startup menu...", TRUE)
If(SCREENWIDTH() <= 320)
........
Any idea?

There was no startup menu shown up. However the InstallLog.txt was there and stuck at "MioAutoRun.mscr: Displaying the startup menu..." No ulock.mscr was executed.
Any suggestion?

I found the MioAutoRun.mscr was executed but stopped to wait for the choice from the menu. However there is no startup menu shownup. The screen stuck to the default signal searching screen. I think the key point is to find out why the startup sceen not shown up. Thanks! |

Finally installed MioPocket 4.0 R66. But the Magellan GPS navigation doesn't work.
Any idea? |

Hi I am also trying to install MioPocket on a Magellan 1424. It gets stuck at the Magellan loading screen every time as well.
What did you do to get MioPocket working eventually?

Hey there.
I have the same GPS, the 1424, and I managed to get it going. I had to change two configuration files. The first change probably wasn't necessary, but you might as well do it anyway to follow the same steps I did.
I opened the Navigator.mscr file (in the MioAutoRun folder on the GPS) in notepad. I then scrolled to the following section, and changed some code:
If(ScreenWidth() <= 320)
SetChoiceEntryFormat(31, 25)
ElseIf(ScreenWidth() < 640)
SetChoiceEntryFormat(35, 26)
Else
SetChoiceEntryFormat(66, 46)
EndIf
changes to…
SetChoiceEntryFormat(35, 26)
This may not be necessary, but I thought that the setup process was hanging up on the resolution detection.
Then, when that still didn’t fix it, I tried one final thing. I opened the MioAutoRun folder that I copied to the GPS, and opened the MioPocket.ini file that had been created when I first powered it on.
In there, I changed one setting: right near the top, the first option Unlock, I set StartupMenu=0. This means it won’t ask what you want to start from, it will simply starting in MioPocket right away. That solved the problem.
Power it on, and let it go through the invisible install process. After about 2 minutes it will restart in MioPocket (probably less than 2 minutes).
That worked for me, hopefully it works for you! |
