Yes,you can by manually. for example This picture is from Sg fw_all hwid 1288 (3790)

This "0 0 0 - B 1 2 8 8 - 0 0" will show in garmindevic.xml as HWID1288. (This "0 0 0 - B 1 2 8 8 - 0 0" point is not the hwid overrided in the tool function. So you can edit it to make your favorite hwid to show in garmindevice.xml) You can change to other ie 000-B1234 so you will get HWID1234.
For1xxx ., you have to find which point is for hwid in garmindevice.xml (There are 2 points of this strings in 1xxx) |

Updating the strings or not will always cause a problem. If you use the US HWIS strings, your device will update to US and revert to US when updating. If you use SG/MAL, you will be updated with SG/MAL fw, but the updater will use the SG/MAL boot and you can brick your US gps.
I did update my strings to US, because I feel it is safer to revert to US than to update by mistake to CHN fw. Still, I feel that this last feature is not a big hit in terms of utility.
Anyways, let me know what you think and what should I do with RGN_Tool. If you do not like it, I will remove the string replacement. It will speed up the processing in RGN_Tool. |

turboccc., Everybody always have a choice. They are free for selecting one of tool to use., 0.44 or 0.60 RGN_Tool v0.44 is the best one for people who don't like v0.60 I got both 0.44 and 0.60 for my bigger way for going. Thanks.
Juggernaut., Sorry for my mistaked., 2.90 is Taiwan f/w not Sg/My. The last Sg/My f/w of 765 is 2.50
lolypop000., This is HxD Hex Editor, which calculates the checksum and is free http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/ (Credit to acleite)

@turboccc, The ver 0.60 is very good and becoming more powerful tool for the gps. keep it up. maybe when we tick the overwrite, HWID, the the text strong box should not be auto checked. this will reduce the changes of mistakes. Just a suggestions. Now i am using this new features to explore more and trying different hwid and trying to use webupdater and see what kind of free updates i can get...... |

@bmbk, Because the HWID is normally the same as the boot.bin file, I prefer to check the text string box by default. This way, the HWID in GarminDevice.xml matches the one in your boot.bin. If you update by mistake, you will update to your original fw country which has the same HWID as your boot. This is the safest course of action. The opposite could brick your gps. |

Thanks for your answer. Do you find 2.50 is superior to 2.90? |

@Yilmaz if you modified your own it should be fine, but if you do for other and they accidentally use webupdate they will back to you.
I saw many case here still using update from lower version, any specific reason?

Juggernaut., Sg/My 2.50 for 765 is the best for Thai map because Sg/My2.50 can display Thai JCV but Taiwan f/w will not.
