NEWS - GARMIN EDGE 800 For Cyclists and more - Road Guidance - Topo Maps - 2.6" Color Touchscreen - ANT+ (Wireless)
Product page on the Garmin site : >> link <<
Updated by GpsPasSion : Here comes the Edge 800, Garmin's third generation Edge system after the Edge 205/305 in 2006 and the Edge 605/705 in 2008. While the Edge 205/305 were little more than a Forerunner 205/305 watch modified for bike use, the Edge 605/705 added map support and now the Edge 800 provides the full GPS experience with a touchscreen, road guidance and full compatibility with Garmin's large map database (road, topo, Bird's Eye, etc...) in a form factor billed by Garmin as "smaller and sleeker than the Edge 705"!
It comes in two configurations : a standalone version for US$449.99 or a preconfigured bundle for US$649.99 that adds a wireless speed and cadence sensor, a City Navigator microSD card, and Garmin's new premium heart rate monitor strap. Availability is slated for "4th Quarter, 2010", in the meantime some previews have already been published, links below.

And about this Edge 800, I was wondering several things: * is it compatible with the previous map format ( *.img, GPS TOPO map) * Does any open source feature already exist (Open Street maps, Tiles-map format import like Atlas Creator ...) * |
