I have a Jensen VM9424BT. It has an SD card slot, however the navigation software is apparently installed on internal flash since there is no SD card in the slot.
That's default with most current devices. If you don't want to make changes at internal storage device, then buy a card!

I know other GPS units can be connected to PCs to install MioPocket. There is a USB slot on the head unit as well. Would a laptop be able to read the internal flash if hooked up through USB?
Simply try it out! |

Hey Folks,
I've been a little too fast so that I deleted my registry backup of my old Becker 7916. Honestly it sucks, because now the explorer is handling crazy wildly some executables and stuff. Is anyone of you owning the same device and has a regsitry backup for me? I'ld really apreciate your help!
Thanks, siy |

| Well, it's related to this thread because of updating my registry was part of MioPocket 4.0 installation routine. Out of this my thoughts have been that the highest rate of success have to be here, because every user which is/was trying to install MioPocket had to backup their registries. But I'll try it in your link, thx! |

Thanks for this hint. Honestly my system starts the way it should but its not behaving like intended anymore (explorer won't show content after a while or isn't starting anymore out of the start menu etc.). That's why I don't need just the init commands but the whole ootb registry :) |

@siyman2k4
the link of kgm is showing jwoegerbauers very good descripton how to unbrick device which have a hive based registry very short explanation: hive based = changes in the registry are permanent non-hive based = changes in registry are gone after Reset As best I know, your 7916 is non-hive based, so changes in registry are always gone after Reset But what I know also, it's an old device with low performance and WINCE 4.0 which is crap. I don't know if the problems you describe are when you run your Becker Menu, or Miopocket? In case of the last, you should have a look, if there are programs running in the background, you don't need and slowing down performance. MP settings/System/Manage startup apps. Alternatively, you can have a look into Task Manager, which exe's are running.
I would anyway recommend Miopocket Mini 4.0, for your device

The Becker 7916 is hive based, so every change is permanent.

It's running WinCE 5.0 build 1400, though it's still low performance ARM7 400 MHz device with 96 MB Ram.

If I did my research correctly it's not depending on the running sys-apps but due to changes MioPocket 4 made to the registry. I gave up trying a lot because I got Garmin Mobile XT up and running.

Hm, I think I'll have a look at it. Thanks for the hint. |

I'd look in my scrap box, where I have some leftovers from a 7916 and the sticker says you are right with WinCE 5.0. But then it wonders me double, as for 5.0, the only devices I know are cheap Chinese stuff. However, I can not place a bet ;) |

If present, the Bluetooth stack implementation is modular. It is a general-purpose software stack, and is linked by default, or modularized to meet specific configuration and OEM needs...

And, because you managed to install MioPocket, you should be able to install und run Tronik's superb utility RestoreDefaultHiveFromROM.exe.
Could you reupload the utility because mediafire complains about missing link. Thx! |
