Hello all! Im new here

Im looking for a new GPS logger since the one that i use today seems to be too slow.
The problem i get is mostly that the altitude is not correct, other data seems to be correct.
So i think i need one with Barometer or a better (quicker more accurate) GPS when it comes to altitude.

Let me start off with showing what i get from my current GPS.
http://www.hellis.me/GPS.zip
The csv-file is the "raw" data from the GPS, then i use a Ms Excel macro to get the xls(x)-file.
The xls(x)-file shows the skydive.
According to the GPS i hit the ground (row 84) at about 140 km/h, which is not true
And thats the problem, since the altitude is so off i start to question if the other data is correct.
The glideratio depends on a correct reading of altitude.
The distance traveld is also depeniding on the altitude.

So?
Would you think a new GPS would help me?
Today i use my cellphones GPS, (sony ericsson P1i with a Royaltek GPS) and i use vlkGPS to log it on my phone.
What i would need is a GPS that:
  • Creates a similar csv-file.
  • Barometer or quick reliable altitude reading
  • At least 1 hz, the more the better.

Any GPS that you could recomend?
Display is not improtant (actually *not wanted*, a bad landing might crack it)

By construction altitude is the last accurate dimension of GPS so no surprise here, also keep in mind that there a geodectic correction is needed, your current setup may or may not handle it properly -> http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=10915

As for loggers with a barometer, none that I'm aware of, but there are handheld systems with a barometer, like the Garmin Colorado, Oregon, Dakota. Not sure they can feed live data that shows a barometer based altitude.
