Hello POPEJ
What effects do you mean? |

| Does anyone else have a problem with the trip planner? Before, if i put in various destinations for a journey, it would automatically calculate the route to the next destination when the current one had been reached. Now it seems to stick on the current destination and tell me to take a u-turn, I have to go into the trip planner and manually select the next destination on the list. It seems that it doesn't always do this, sometimes it will work. Is there a setting to sort it out or is it a problem that needs to be fixed? |

It never worked correctly. Sometimes trip stopped on intermediate destinations, sometimes it didn't notice destination and then wanted you to turn back. I think most user simply gave up and didn't use trips.

Don't really agree with the never worked properly: Used it intensively in lake district England, no problems Even sometimes it considers an intermediate point to be reached when being in the neigbourhood of it. But when you also skip the second one by some meters, it will redirect you to the previous one strangely enough (at least on the previous release last year) |

I've just joined the forum, so apologies if this is an old chestnut, but I haven't found any reference when I've searched the forum .....
A couple of weeks ago I "upgraded" my 3790T software (via web-updater)from version 3.9 to 4.0. I wish I hadn't bothered!
Since the upgrade I've completely lost the Voice Command option - not only does the unit no longer respond to Voice Commands, even the option to record my own wake-up phrase has disappeared from the Tools menu.
Has anyone successfully installed V4? If so, has it affected Voice Command for you ... needless to say Garmin have failed to respond to my email to their "support" desk.
Thanks in advance .... |

Ian,
I installed ver 4.0 last week. No problems. Voice Command still works. Maybe try installing it again. |

| Before you reinstall, just do a "clear all user data" 1st and try that. Make sure you backup the current/gpx file to restore once done. That will probably address the issue you're having. |

Thanks for the suggestions ... however I'm still struggling!
I tried re-installing ver 4.0, still no Voice Command.
ZX14NINJA - when you say "clear all user data" do you mean by switching the unit off, then holding the bottom right corner of the screen whilst it is re-booting? If so, this doesn't seem to be working either! Is there any other way of clearing user data ... after copying the current.gpx file to my PC should I delete it from the Nuvi?
Thanks again for the suggestions - if only Garmin support were as keen to help! |

Thanks SergZak - that works for me .... but even after a hard reset & reinstall of the Ver 4.0 software I'm still missing all Voice Commands, and can find no icon on the Tools menu (which I think used to be there?) for customising the Voice Command - its as though my 3790T now thinks that its the similar model (3760 ?) which doesn't have the Voice Command module.
When I go to Tools / System / About it tells me that my unit is Model nuvi 37xx with Software ver 4.0 & Firmware 2.60 - I presume these are correct? |

| Did Garmin give you a fix for this? Maybe the voice-command files got damaged during the latest map update, can you list the three of four most recent files you have in the \ASR directory (in the hidden \.system directory)? |

Garmin UK emailed me instructions for downloading & running "ASR fixer" - which I did, but unfortunately this has not restored my Voice Command module.
Most recent files in ASR directory are English-British.srd, 01Y4LIC9.asr, 01Y4LIC8.asr, .... etc - all dated 31/03/2011 |

For nearly half a year there was following info present on Garmin site:
quote: 09/14/2010
At this time the nuvi 3700 series does not have the ability to manually receive created routes from MapSource or any third party applications.
Garmin intends to add this functionality into the nuvi 3700 series via a software update sometime in the future. Current plans call for the update to be released in the first quarter of 2011.
This promise was removed before the end of Q1, but copies still can be found on many sites. Does it mean that Garmin has new firmware ready or have they dropped support for 37xx?
