Yep, the same for me this morning. And I still use a Nüvi 310... |

Like other Nuvi models with the "Where Am I? feature, if you press the vehicle icon on the map screen there is an option to save your current location as a Favorite. Sounds like what your looking for.
Yes it was what I was looking for thank you. I have a built in Lexus GPS now, and the mark button is so handy. Especially when you want to get right to the door of your hotel room. Just waiting for the price of the nuvi 3750 to come down. I figure two months from now it will. |

@NanaimoRick I don't know if it's a bug or a feature, but it seems to have something to do with "myTrends". Mine is also acting like that, but instead of calculate the time to destination, it says: "Home (or any random favorite): <Time> min". I'm gonna deactivate the myTrend option, and see if this still occurs.

Yes, sounds like the myTrends feature, although it should only be choosing places you've already been to !
As seen above I'm finally joining in the nuvi 3790T fun, much too long after the PREVIEWED - Garmin nuvi 37xx Series (3750, 3760, 3790T), long story...
Still as sleek and it even feels lighter, maybe too much actually as it "bends" and "creeks" a bit when I press in the corners, might be specific to mine (I've got a lot of reading to do here...) ?
I've only done some pedestrian testing, always a challenge for a car GPS, and was quite impressed with how the position was updated in the streets around the Arc de Triomphe, particularly by the immediate switch to "0" when you stop, they must be using the movement sensor to achieve this.
There had been conflicting reports so I was also glad to see that custom vocal POI alerts work properly with the "sox" trick :
As for traffic, the 3790T comes with lifetime pan european premium RDS TMC Traffic subscriptions, is it Total Traffic Network in the USA or Navteq with ads ? |

Navteq lifetime traffic here but I haven't seen an ad yet ;-)
I have to ask, what's the 'sox' trick - is that referring to using .wav files for alerts |

Yes, as using MP3s apparently generates "Dongs" like on other non-MP3 capable nuvis.
Good about the lack of ads, maybe they only pop up on the 1690 then.
Any "flexing/creeking" on your own 3790 if you try to "twist" it while holding it on the sides ?
@hobus - any chance you could share your "silent" voice ? You can upload it to the server using this method ? Thanks ! |

| Haven't seen any ads on my 3790. Would see them often on the 1690 but they were not obtrusive nor did they obstruct my screen much. |

I've found that with the first unit I tested, the creaking was created when pressing on the edge of the plastic speaker "housing" on the back where it mates with the chrome edge band. The second unit I tested did not creak at that spot but only slightly, at a different spot (also on the speaker housing). Yes, the unit does have quite a bit of flex to it...it's also almost uncomfortably light in weight...but I'm sure I'd get used to it. |

| Thanks for sharing, yes it's so light that some flexibility is unavoidable and it will hopefully keep it from breaking, let's hope it doesn't get worese over time. I didn't remember it as being so light, a problem I can deal with ;-) |

No "creaking" with my 3790T although I can get it 'flex' if I hold it on the left and right edge and try to "fold it" which of course I'm not going to do under normal use
My leather case arrived today. Really nice tight fit and I'm happier putting the unit in my pocket now since my keys seem to always end up in there to. Don't want to scratch this beautiful screen.

This case is absolutely the best. I even bought one for my iPhone 4. Fits well.
Thanks for the pictures. Quality case and a great price.

Now that's the case I'm getting when I finally purchase my 3790T. I felt really uncomfortable carrying the naked 3790 around...it's almost too thin and easy to lose your grip on.
Funny, I asked the Best Buy auto guy if they had the new case for the 37xx series and he walked right up to the old case (for the 7x0/7x5/etc series) and handed it to me saying "this will work"...yeah right. I could fit at least two, maybe three stacked 37xx units in that one case. |

| I bought the case with my unit also and I agree that it's a good fit and doesn't add any bulk to it. It's still super thin but I feel like it's better protected. Definitely get the custom Garmin 37xx case. |

gpscity has it and shipping is very inexpensive. I carry my 3790 in my shirt pocket and have room for my iPhone too!
Try that with any other GPS. |

I have not noticed any "creaking", but when I first took the 3790 out of the box, it seemed surprisingly flimsy as compared to my iPhone. It definitely does flex a bit if you try, but not a problem for normal use.
I want a case like those rubberized iPhone cases that allow you to use the unit. I would then feel more comfortable taking it for a hike. . |
