The new Timex watch looks interesting: http://www.wristwatchreview.com/2010/01/26/timex-announces-new-gps-watch/

Can someone tell me if a watch of this type (or this watch in particular), allows a user to create a route on a PC and then transfer it over to the watch. (I'd just be looking for the watch to say "go right," etc when it reaches a certain POI.)

Ah the Ironman, a "cult" watch, still have mine from 1989 ;-)

Based on the picture it doesn't look like it will have any routing capabilities. The Garmin FR205 and FR405 can help you follow a track but for guidance the screen is too small, you'd have to go with an Edge for that.
