my new Garmin 255W's time for catching sat is much longer than my friend's 255W which is old. i updated my 255W firmware to 6.10 while my friend's 255W is having 5.70. but my 255W's GPS SW version (using Tools/settings/system/about) is 2.00m, while my friends's 255W's GPS SW version is 3.70b which I can't update. is this the reason my GPS is slower than my friend's GPS?
Your 255W is a newer/different version of firmware. Don't believe yours will update to 6.10. Are you using Webupdater. Check earlier links on 255w software/firmware. This issue was discussed in Nov 09
