My two Nuvi's have been pretty much spot on, driveway to driveway.
I purchased and just received two nuvi 255's for my two daughters for Christmas. I registered them and installed all available updates including maps. Today I took them both outside to get a sat lock from my home driveway in NJ.
I am a little concerned. After getting sat locks I did the "Where Am I" thing. One said the closest address was up the street. The other said the closest address was a couple streets away! I even moved up and down my driveway to see if this would improve. No change.
Is this something I should be concerned about? Will the accuracy improve with use (more sat locks)?? |

| Sorry to answer a question with a question, but, side-by-side, are they showing the same satellites being received with similar signal strengths and number of feet accuracy? Just for my own knowledge I'd be curious. After the last firmware upgrade my 265WT has shown down to 11' for accuracy, prior to that firmware accuracy was a mess and the subject of a long thread here that I started when numerous GPS's in our caravan all went out-to-lunch in Indiana. |

| Guess I'll have to experiment. I'll let you know. |

the 1xxx models have 4.10 as well now, and I have noticed that there is a little 'wandering' with the positioning, sometimes when stationery, but nothing too major, not enough to warrant any concern.
However I have noticed that the signal strength is rather greater, I can get a good signal indoors where I would rarely get a great signal before.
I suspect the new firmware may improve the sensitivity with a minor trade off in positioning.
I think the nuvi's with the old sirfstar chips had this issue to some degree if I remember rightly. |

| Yes, both my 350 and 780 'drift' a fair bit. The 1490 seems to be more stable when stationary. |

| My 265WT has greater sensitivity and better accuracy with v4.10b. |

| As shown on the satellite screen and when turned on indoors. |
