I have checked around the forum but could not find any solutions and that is why I am opening a new topic...
I have the SP c330 device working fine and just wanted to add an additional voice language that is not originally in the voice pack. As far as I understood C330 does not work with TTS (text-to-speech) but could not understand what voice files it uses - probably .VPM - ??? I have the VPM file for the new voice language I want to add but can't find a way to add it to the device. As you probably know when the device is USB connected to a PC you can not browse it - can not see it as an external device in My Computer so you can not add the new file to its VOICE directory. I found the Turboccc's website with the NonTTSVoiceEditor application but after having the file ready I do not know how to transfer it to the device... Does anyone know how to do this??? I was thinking about a command line like the one used for replacing the originally installed map
"C:\Garmin\WebUpdater\WebUpdater.exe /upload_file rgn=49 path=C:\Garmin\gmapprom.img -autorun usb /i"
but pointing the VOICE directory and the new VPM file to be added...
Please help if you have additional information and experience!
Well not being able to see inside the c330 unit. I would guess it's a guessing game. These uits are well locked down. Sure it can be done, But for a voice add, PITA!
With the c330, you need to go to the Garmin website and download Web Updater to your Windows based computer. Install the program. Then attach your GPS to your computer with the USB cable. Turn on the GPS and the Web Updater program will recognize the GPS. Continue and download all the recent firmware updates. After that, run Web Updater again and all the supported languages will be shown. Chose the one you want and install it to the GPS assuming you have enough internal memory. The c330 has one gig of internal memory. Maps can be installed on an SD card but not firmware and languages.
