Just wondering if its worth it to purchase a refurbished Nuvi for a lower price. According to Garmin you still get the full 1 year warranty if you purchase it from an authorized Garmin dealer. I am more concerned about the condition of the units like scratches or missing accessories.

Most people who send their nuvis in for warranty "repair" end up getting a refurb back. I did when my 350 died a long time ago.
The refurb had no noticeable cosmetic flaws and worked fine.

Refurbished Nuvi coming directly from Garmin is not the same as a unit refurbished by 3rd party and sold through the reseller.

I was assuming (correct me if I am wrong) that all of the refurb work is in fact done by Garmin, regardless of who sells/supplies it.

Danham, Yes according to Garmin phone support all refurbishing is done by them and the 1 year warranty is also through them. The person I spoke with informed me that the warranty is the same as with a new Garmin unit.

I had touch screen issues (which drove me crazy) with my 765T and returned it to the factory for replacement. I was concerned that I would receive a refurbished unit with scratches, bangs, etc. so I didn't send it back until the warranty was to run out. However, the refurb. unit I received back looked like a brand new unit--the screen is much brighter and I have not had one problem with the touchscreen on the replacing unit. I am quite satisfied with the refurb. unit...

Will just add that I recently got a refurb unit off of eBay. I didn't notice any blemishes and have been pleased with the unit.

Hi jcauseyfd, When you bought it from ebay, did you get the Garmin 1 year warranty? |

Purchased a refurb nuvi 750 from newegg some months back.. No issues here. In fact, got one of the older units with the brighter display.

According to the seller it comes with a 1-year warranty and it had paperwork in the box for a warranty. I did note that when I registered the unit on the Garmin web site, there was some indication about the service date being December 2008. Hopefully I won't ever have to figure out whether it is really valid. Keep in mind, I was willing to take the risk in order to save a few $$$s. Not necessarily the right path for everyone.
