3.80 seems to be released on new GPS in the shop, but still not released in WebUpdater.
Thanks to supersecretjim for posting info about it.
I do hope Garmin has done some with the zoom level. |

| Thanks for the tip. I'll probably wait until I see someone post some info on it since I don't want another 3.40 fiasco. |

| For those that have been around awhile, would this likely mean that a public release is fairly imminent? |

| Normally the unit in the stores do have older firmware than what you can download and find with WebUpdater. This is first time that I know of that a release has been showing up like this... |

No it's happened several times before, for instance the 7x5 models were sold earlier this year with FW v3.50 while only v3.40 was available for older models and it didn't have the problems of the v3.40 software. v3.50 was never released, they went directly to v3.60, same might happen this time.
Honestly I'm not holding my breath for anything spectacular, can you clarify what you mean with the zoom level fix you're hoping for? |

On 765 all the first level of small roads do disappears while zooming from 300m to 500m. On the 760 this happens going from 1.2km to 2km. This do gives much more detail of roads on the map screen. Here i Norway most of the roads are categorized as small roads, and therefore I do not see the side roads while having it set to 500m. Seeing no side roads gives 98% white screen, and 2% roads on screen, showing only the road I am driving.
I and other have written about this many time before, and I have sent Garmin 5-6 email about it. |

Can you do a small test.
Set map detail to most and 2D.
Look at the map, and zoom out. When do the first roads disappears? From 300m to 500m?
Jo
That was part of an email that jotne sent me earlier today. jotne, I hope you dont mind that I posted it. I went out on a bit of a roadtrip today...sorry it took so long to get back on this.
So, setting up my 765t to kilometer instead of miles, map detail at its highest setting (as always), 2d track up... Map loses detail from 500m to 800m (-3mi to -5mi). You see the detail for a second at 800m (.5mi) then it blanks out to only the larger roads. I notice another loss of streets going from 1.2km to 2km (.8mi to 1.2mi)if that matters to anyone.
With my 780 set to more (not most) the two units are the same until zooming out to 2km, where the 780 keeps the smaller streets & the 765 loses all but the highways, it appears.
Another thing Im hating about the 765 is when you plan a route, hit "go" then hit the upper info bar, then "show map" , on the 780 you see a clear line of your route with a few other roads showing. on the 765t is shows the same line, but it is completely obscured by all my favorites crammed into a 5km view. I cant even see what the route is.
Garmin somehow managed to hit a homerun & strike out at the same time with the 765t. still not sure if Im gonna keep the 765t or return my 780.

I hate the same thing about my 775 units. I have sent an email to Garmin about it and I hope evereyone else does too.
If enough people complain about it.... maybe.... they will listen and fix it. |

The refurbs are being installed with FW 3.80 as well.
I had a 765 die on me and would not switch back on which was running FW 3.60!
Returned it to Garmin as it was only 2 weeks old and they replaced it with one that was running FW 3.80.
This was a couple of weeks ago... http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=127184&whichpage=28 |

| I started a new post on this as well, but I had the "updating" flag come up on the way home tonight! I'm running 3.6 and the updater doesn't have anything new. I'm currently looking around the site for newer firmware. Confidence in Garmin falling fast. |

I recently received a new Nuvi 765T from Garmin. Shipped with firmware 3.80 and GPS version 2.90 installed. Webupdater still found a Type M hotfix update and I GPS Chipset Type M update but I have held off installing this. Firmware 3.80 seems very stable and I haven't a single issue to report.
What is the latest chipset version for the 765T? |

Hotfix gives you quick start to fix while power on. This was some error Garmin has made a fix for and I do suggest that you install it. If not you have to wait long time for fix. |

Thanks - I thought the Hotfix was to overcome the issues around firmware 3.40 and the rebooting "loop".
What is the latest chipset version you show on your Nuvi 765T please |

Thanks Jotne
Strange then that webupdater offers me an update to this whereas I am only offered the two English Australian voice updates (which I know are new) rather than the whole TTS list which used to appear when I used Webupdater on my previous 765T.
This unit seems to ship with PCB version 9 whereas my last one was version 5. |

Webupdater, if working properly, should only list those new updates. There were many users who have the entire listing show up regardless if the file needed updating or not. So it sounds like it is working properly on your Nuvi.
