City Navigator 2010 North America and Europe Navteq 2008/Q4 (?) - nüMaps Onetime - nüMaps Lifetime
Check availability for your GPS system : >> link << nüMaps Onetime Europe : >> $129 << - nüMaps Lifetime Europe : >> $139 << nüMaps Onetime North America : >> $69 << - nüMaps Lifetime North America : >> $119 << UPDATED 20080409 : The CityNavigator NT 2010 North America and Europe maps are now available for download or purchase on DVD unde the nüMaps Lifetime or nüMaps Onetime programs ($129.99 for Europe). Here is a first user report by caryrae : quote: I am downloading the new update and looks like it's called 2010. This is the file name Garmin_RMU_CNNANT2010.exe. Why would they call it 2010? What will they call the the next update that comes out in a few months?
As a side note, Garmin's map numbering is perplexing since the first quarterly map update under the Lifetime program that was released on 01/21 was called 2009.1, so 2009.2 was expected for this version... |

I guess the only sense this could make is if you think of this new update as replacing the old annual update. If they hadn't gone to quarterly back in January then this new one would have been City Navigator North America 2010, replacing the previous release CN NA 2009. So now they can name the next quarterly ones 2010.1, 2010.2 etc. and come out with 2011 a year from now. |

Could it be that they simply renamed 209.11 to 2010? I have a lifetime map update and it originally said I had an update available. After connecting my 760, it informed me my maps were up to date. I have "Download: City Navigator® North America NT 2010 Map Update" available to "download Again", but I'm hesitant. Any advice?
Thanks,

@ TTexas
Same thing happened here except that the system hung on the "verifying unit" (or something like that). Just go to your map downloads and choose the "download again" option for the 2010 map update. I'm sure it's the correct one since I have both 2010 & 2009.11 showing for my downloads. |

@TTexas
The readme.txt contained in the Garmin_RMU_CNNANT2010.exe file refers to the update as "Garmin City Navigator® North America NT 2010.10 Downloadable Update" |

caryrae,
Same here...three times in a row. I'm guessing traffic on the authenticating server? Anyone else with a thought?

| Yeah, I'm getting the same error myself. Must be because of all the people that are trying to download the new maps. |

| Once the installation is done, the map will appear automatically as a new map choice in MapSource, make sure you have lots of spare room on your C drive though as it needs a lot of cache ! |

Here's a tip for you guys. Download & install WinRAR (if you haven't already): http://www.rarsoft.com
Rename the downloaded file from Garmin to something ending in .rar, like Garmin_RMU_CNNANT2010.exe.rar
Decompress the file using WinRAR to a different folder on your hard drive. Browse to that folder and open the Windows folder. Run setup.exe and the install package will proceed without having to sit for 10 minutes for decompression, then error out with the server error where you'll have to start all over again. If you get the server error, simply run setup.exe again.
BTW, I'm also getting the server error so you guys are not alone. I've heard of Mac users getting the update installed without the server error but I've not heard of one PC user getting past the server error.

Good suggestion, SergZak. Although I get the same result, at least the process is streamlined. First successful Windows user should post completion on this thread.

| Tried the upgrade this evening with no luck. I'm not going to do any modifications to the file as I'm afraid I might screw something else up. I'll wait for Garmin to get their servers working. |

the my.garmin server was having issues earlier in the evening (US/Central). It's working now. I had a weird occurance, where while my 2720 was updating, the power cord jerked, and the gps reset. this left NO maps on the device at all. When I tried to re-run the 2010.1 update it wouldn't. I found my 2009 DVD, and reloaded that, and then the 2010.1 update, and we're fine now. I just hope I don't lose the 2009 DVD for such emergencies. I suspect Garmin could have helped me, but I wanted the maps.
We'll see what TS says tomorrow, but I now have the 2010.1 maps on the 2720. |
