After upgrading my C720T to Miomap 2008 in Australia, and being very disappointed at the reduction in functionality, I found the most important feature I rely on not working any more - Contacts!

The Contact Sync in the old MioTransfer doesn't work with the new Miomap software and neither do any of the other utilities out there. I checked the new file format (Contacts.pcd) and it appears to have changed significantly from previous versions. It now supports DBCS and a fixed field length format.

After speaking with Mio 'technical support' and getting nowhere I have decided that the only solution is to write my own utility to extract Outlook Contacts and create a Contacts.pcd file that is supported by the Miomap 2008 software.

You may download this free Win32 utility here:
http://home.exetel.com.au/digitalskydive/dev.htm [ED]

Just unzip the file and run the executable MioContacts.exe. Then copy the new file Contacts.pcd into your device's \PIM folder.

I've only tested this on my C720T with the new Miomap 2008 software released in Australia so it may not work for you. But it solves my problem so I thought I'd share it.

This is freeware so use it as-is and send any feedback to the email address displayed in the app.

Cheers and good luck with the upgrade!
