| Yeah I too saw that posting on ebay. It is sad that someone is attempting to make some profit for themselves when the rest of the people that read the forums and may want to purchase this unit have to put up with people attempting to exploit a good thing. |

Yes my shipping was $18 also.
But this is a really good unit and the software is great. Look at the positive side you find a great coupon, saved a bunch off the list price and you saved $20 to $30 by buying the same unit from Belkin.

If I recall the shipping method was 2 or 3 days using either UPS or Federal Express. I am not here to defend Belkin and their shipping charges, but the coupon makes the bluetooth gps kit a very good deal.
If you truly feel the shipping charges are too expensive then why did you purchase the unit ?
The charges were listed prior to commiting to the order.

| As it happened, I didn't order. When I saw the charges at the 'place order' screen, I changed my mind. You're right, even with exhorbitant shipping it's good deal. I just decided to hold off. |

| Hi, Is the belkin BT gps unit the same as fortuna clip on? The only thing I know is that belkin still uses the old version of intellinav but the fortuna clip on bundle sold at semsons have the newest version. (newer version have updated POI right?) |

| I ended up getting the Belkin kit on eBay for $128. It took me a while to figure out why I couldn't keep a BT connection going, but I eventually did (turns out you have to have the nav software up and tracking; then the connection stays live). When I have more experience with it, I'll post some thoughts. I do know others have used Mapopolis with it, so I guess other programs will work to. And yes, the Belkin receiver is the same unit as the Fortuna Clip on, without the clip! |

I have had my Belkin Bluetooth GPS kit for several months now. I started out driving around town and my general area to see how good or bad the hardware and software was.
In the past 2 years I have tried 5 other GPS hardware and software combinations and had sent them all back for a refund. This time was different.
This combination was a keeper, the software is some of the best that I have tried and the hardware works great. No the software is not perfect but I have never used a gps mapping software that was as good as this one.
On a scale of 1 to 100 for this combination I would give it a 90. The software has a few bugs but they can be worked around. The bluetooth receiver is real good.
I just took my gps kit on a 2000 mile trip and it was very accurate and even my wife liked it.
No matter what bluetooth compatiable pda you are going to use with this kit make sure you have the latest bluetooth driver and bios update for the pda to make sure you do not have bluetooth issues.
For around $160 to $170 including tax and shipping this kit is a great deal.
Sure the POI's could be enhanced which I understand did take place in the version 2 of this software, but Belkin has yet to announce a software upgrade even though other Intellinav vendors already have there upgrades available.
Also this hardware will run on any NEMA compatiable software if you do not like the software that comes with this kit.
FYI I also did try Mapopolis which has better POI's but the mapping software was not as good in my opinion. I also tried Pocketmap Navigator but like the Intellinav software much better.
One feature that I really thought was pretty neat was the software understands based on your current position the sunrise and sunset and automatically switches the display colors between daytime and nightime mode. You can disable this feature if you want to.
The bottom line the Intellinav based software is very easy to use has a very clean interface and you can load it both on your PDA and laptop if you want to. |

This is my first GPS unit. I've had mine for about 6 months now and really like it. From TomRaz comments, i'm glad to know that i got a good one on the first try. There are a lot of selections out there.
I would like to know how to update the map database. I've noticed that there are a few missing streets in my travels. Also, the poi's have to change often. I've checked the belkin website, it is no help. |

I just sent another email to Belkin technical support asking if they were going to offer firmwware and software udpates for this gps kit.
So far no answer.
Intellinav who creates the mapping software has released version 2.0 of there software that is suppose to include updated Navtech map data.
Intellinav sells there software through various companies who put their name on the product and change some of the minor features.
The problem is Belkin owners are not eligable for any of the upgrades from the other companies.
I am still hoping Belkin will offer a free upgrade or a reduced cost upgrade to version 2.0.

I emailed Belkin about this update last month and got a reply that they plan to upgrade as well, and are working on it and will let registered users know when they can upgrade. I'm not holding my breath, and I'd be surprised if the upgrade will be free. In the meantime I'm scouting other programs.

In early August after sending a couple emails and receiving no response, I called and spoke to a fellow in BELKIN Tech Support and a lady in sales about if and when BELKIN would be offering the new version of their GPS software. Both individuals told me that they had evaluated the new version and the concensus was that the new version did not offer enough improvements over the older version to warrant a change in the product they offered, nor an up-grade for those who already owned Version 1.0.
They contended that the map data is not updated in Version 2, and that only the POI info had been updated.
Personally I think we will see the current BELKIN GPS product change to version 2.0 before we see an upgrade offered to previous owners. If and when we see the new BELKIN BT GPS repackaged with version two, then at some point we will see a reduced upgrade price to previous owners.
One thing to consider, isn't version 2 getting old already, I think it has been released now for almost a year, I'm thinking perhaps version 2.1 will soon be available...
