Updated 20090218 : New version available for download.
Users of GPS software often say they would like to have access to a trial version to make sure it meets their needs, as can be done with other types of software. So let's welcome ZorroGPS who are doing just that with a 48 hour trial period...soon that is, as the download links will be active around January 14th.
In addition to the trial period, ZorroGPS also stands out with its unusually low pricing (€22 for the USA, €36 for Europe), the use of the latest Navteq Maps from Q4/2008, city and regional versions, TTS (Text to Speech) or transit systems navigation...It is expectedly compatible with PDAs and Smartphones but also with PNAs that generally don't let end users add software. The many versions are also a bit confusing...Let's stay tuned for an updated website by the end of the week and the downloadable trial on January 14th...

| Missed that, so I deleted my comment. I note that the US/Canada download is only 53MB, as are all the downloads, so I can't imagine what's in it. We'll have to wait and see. I've marked my calender. |

Hmm, this sounds almost too good to be true, especially since they appeared out of nowhere. The reviews will be interesting to read once people start experimenting with this software and post how it compares with Garmin's XT software.. |

Something about their site just seems odd. They don't have any real contact info available, even when exploring the investor and job posting sections. A quick WHOIS lookup of ZorroGPS.com (http://www.whois.net/whois_new.cgi?d=zorrogps&tld=com) reveals that they are based in China and have an alternate domain name that points to the same site: letuhang.com, a rather unfortunate name. A lookup of that site reveals "diamnav.com", which in return leads us to "chinahanse.com". All of these sites are registered to "Hanlion International Investment Consulting"
Hopefully everything is legit, but it does sound too good to be true.

| Yes. I'm curious about this, but skeptical. It is all very odd from the how they were never heard of and next to nothing about them appears in Google, to no beta program before release, to some cheesy graphics in the fake screenshots, to the seemingly too low pricing. [EDIT SEE PM] |

| Guys, hold your horses and avoid potentially defamatory statements (hence the edit above), we'll know soon enough and they're not selling anything and don't have any advertising, so there's no conspiracy in sight as far as I can tell and certainly nothing to be upset about... |

The US info page now reads "Open January 22th". Also, it says in one place download for 48h for free, and in another only for 24h. http://www.zorrogps.com/US/ |

| Praying hard :) Since this may be one of only two programs using the newer Navteq US maps that would still allow installation of the program on PDAs without an expansion card, like HTC Touch Diamond, or an SD card of users' choices. It seems to have most of the desirable/modern technologies included, too. |
