Hi there.
I'm new to gps's in genral but fairly computer literate.
I bought a magellan maestro 4010 yesterday and decided to follow the steps to install file manager and the media player etc.
Whilst copying things accross i stupidly replaced navigator.exe instead of renaming it to mynavigator.exe.
I checked the magellan website for replacement firmware but there doest seem to be any for the 4010 so i downloaded the one for the 4040 and extracted the navigator .exe from it and transeferred it on to the gps.
The software will now run but asks for me to insert an sd card with maps on constantly.
The original maps are still on the gps untouched (all of the original files are intact except navigator.exe)
I have checked media.cfg is ok and it all seems fine to me.
I know i should have made a backup etc but i didn't and am now at a loss.
Could some kind soul please give me some advice and/or let me know where to get appropriate firmware/files from.
The gps was bought in the UK and will be used there.
And I would be happy to just return it to its original state and forget about media player etc.
Thanks in advance
Matt

I'm fairly sure i only really need the navigator.exe file from an untouched 4010. Perhaps someone could provide a link or tell me otherwise.
Thansk in advance

Did you register your GPS with the Magellan web site?

Firmware downloads don't show on the "downloads" web page unless you have a GPS of that type registered with Magellan.

I'm looking for a European firmware copy (to get the TTS language files).

If you haven't already, register your 4010 with Magellan, and see if there is firmware to download then.

Does the 4010 do TTS? (ie speaks the road names).

What version of Navigator did you load (2.36 is the latest - some people have 3.07 which is for upgraded NA maps) - you may have the wrong version.

Can you tell me what size the navigator.exe file is? we could work it out from that.

If you need the 2.36 version Navigator I can send you that, can you post the contents of your SPEECH directory (if you have one)?

Hello mate... Firstly thanks so much for replying.
I have registered the GPS with Magellan and it still shows no firmware for the 4010.. infact half the time the 4010 isnt even on their menus.
I have checked the GPS internal memory and theres no folder called "speech" sorry.

The details when i went to product info are as follows:
Firmware: 1.27
Model No: EU
Hardware version: 1
Product ID: 722
OS Version: R09
SH Version: 2.05
Navigator version 1.06

I'm not sure if the navigator version is correct as when i right click and go to the properties on the file it says version 2.34.0.0 size 9.88mb
I just took the navigator.exe form the 2.36 firmware i downloaded (but the GPS would not recognise saying product identifier does not match) and dragged it on to the Gps to replace the one i deleted.

Hope this info helps
Matt

The 2.36 firmware I have says it's for 40x0 which i assume includes 4010 but when i try and load it it says the product Id does not match this upgrade.

I guess the 4040 versions aren't going to help you then.

This guy had a 4010 (Europe) and was looking for firmware. The link to the firmware he gives dosen't work(invalid password).

Maybe you could E-Maill him and get a copy of navigator.exe, or a working link to the firmware.

His name is Gustavo, and his E-Mail is:

Best of Luck!

My problem has been solved by a chap called inkognito who provided me with the App folder for the 4010 in rar format. If this will help anybody else feel free to go to the thread.
