1. Remove the 5 rubber plugs 5 screws.Next run your thumbnail around the unit to separate the front and the back, starting at the top. 2 Gently remove the battery, first peel back the silver foil adhesive and next ease the battery. 3 remove the wires from the old battery, next remove the plastic terminal on the new battery. I soldered the wires together. I insulated the connections with shrink tubing loosely over connections. avoid heating the shrink tubing to avoid excessive heat. Do everything in reverse order and snap back into place , screws etc. I left the wires as long as possible to reduce heat transfer. Avoid unnecessary heat when sodering. Note, I did this on a C320- I assume it is the same on a C520 |

Got mine installed and fully charged no need to cut wires there's a plug, simply unplug and plug in new one. Oh make sure you remember which wires go where .. on second attempt success. I had gotten down to about 45 minutes with the old one Haven't used it the past few days haven't gone anywhere. I have been using it as a speed-o in my truck, the cable/sending unit/head end is messed up. lol.... works fine. Mark |

A colleague of mine has just replaced battery of his Mio c320. Here is robot translation of his post to national forum:
Has changed Mio C320 battery. Has ordered new on ebay, 7 dollars and 7 dollars delivery here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=320293331749 paid by a credit card (paypal). Arrived from Hong Kong within 20 days, I have received an accurate parcel on mail. To change simply, 5 minutes. The main thing - accurately remove a black lath with speaker, it keeps on scotch and on one latch. Still it is also necessary to unhook accurately shielding aluminium tape from the old battery. The battery indicator at last began work normally - the bar in the course of work is smoothly shortened, linearly and predictably. Earlier battery indicator quickly fell to 50 % and there kept, and it is a shared problem of all C320 and C520 I've seen, irrespective of purchase region. The operating time in a navigation mode became 4 hours. I am quite satisfied.
Yes, there is some inconsistency in battery behavior after only 9 month from purchase: I fully charged battery then immediately shut Mio down (not hibernated). Then, after I switched it on several hours later, battery indicator showed only 70%.
Probably, there were not-quite-conditional batteries installed into new devices, who knows... But some indirect indication of such a possibility is Mio's warranty extension regarding battery from 6 months to 2 years: http://www.mio-tech.be/en/support/support-news.php?device=C520
You, guys, living in countries where Mio warranty does mean something, can check if you can exchange your batteries with new ones for free. Good luck! |

| Ihad the same problem with my Mio (used for testing). Because I charged and discharged several times without doing a full charge and a full discharge (in order to fix the limits) the gauge measurement (from power management) was really out of limits (that was happening after 6 ..7 months). I called MIO and they recommended me to fully charge the battery (charge over night; no matter that the LED shows green). After that a full discharge (disable power management from settings and listen MP3 until power down). After two cycle, in my case, working time on battery increased from 20m to 1h 40m. |

Is the original battery in the 320/520 Li-Po? If so - then cycling it is probably the least helpful thing you can do.
The ones being sold on eBay are Li-Po. Although, as you say it did increase your runtime.
Cbxr - Do you have a link with pics? Have you considered putting your instructions on something like instructibles.com? |

| Yes, is the original battery. And the problem is not "the capacity" ... is the power management unit (PMU) that is messing up the 0%/100% voltage levels ... sow your battery may be ok but your OS is reporting wrong battery levels. |

So on the C520 do you need to solder or do you just plug in the new battery?
Thanks B |

| No soldering. Just plug in the new battery. You'll need to peel some stubborn tape that keeps the battery secure, however. |

I have the new battery. Unfortunately I don't remember which way is up. There are only two choices but I would rather know than guess. One side of the connector is flat. On the other side you can see the pins. Which way does it go in? The battery says it needs to be charged first. Will it at least turn on so I can tell that it works?
Thanks |
