thank you for your feedback.
Try to find some one with this type of device and download the SMFlash.img (with DiskRW) ... I never tried to extract winceimg.bin for the Cx10 but I can give it a try ... |

thank you very much for your help but I have a question.
when I copy all the files from "galin_UPGRADE_MIO_19Jun09/SDCard" to my SD Card and make a hard reset,
device asks me "unlock UPGRADE" Yes or No.
When I press Yes, nothing happens?

I was delete everything on my flash disk and now mya pc can't detect my c520. What can i do?
my device is a mio c520 with rom c520EEUT+v1+0003 after update to miomap2008!

Thank you very much for your fix. It worked fine on my MIO C320. I've been able to re-flash the firmware and DSK1 partition is back a original. Thanks ! |

Try this update ....

If it doesn't work we have to build a special unlock that doesn't start any original software from Mio and reveal only the wince ...
Also you can try this unlock:

After restart you should have task manager and desktop. Tell me if you have access to the desktop and Start button.

You have to upgrade (downgrade if you like) to an older version of firmware (oldies but goldies :) ). Tell me your original firmware, model name, region and all other information you know about that GPS maybe I can find that specific firmware ;).
But before we need to find away to start this software (UPGRADE) ... and only after, we'll see what winceimg to write on the GPS.

Thank you very much for your effort!
I am finally able to downgrade from MioMap 2008 to MioMap 3.3 regarding your steps :)
The only thing that I have to add is, about files.
In "Mantas405A43_EEU" folder, open "auto.mscr" with notepad and change :
# start exe
RunWait ("\Storage Card\UPGRADE\w_coredll\UPGRADE_APP_.exe")
with:
# start exe
RunWait ("\Storage Card\UPGRADE\w_coredll\cupgrade_app_.exe")
Also in "OSCAR91A_EEU" folder's, auto.mscr we have to make the same change.
"\Storage Card\UPGRADE\w_coredll\" folder only contains "cupgrade_app_.exe"
After making the changes, I get able to enter as SuperUser to my device.

And finally, after restoring from original dvd, do not forget to plug SD Card to change settings NormalUser instead of SuperUser.
Otherwise when any SD Card plugged, it comes to the blue screen again. |

How can i generate cks for u're winceimg.bin? I'm trying to make the update from SD card, and GPS it asks for .cks file.

TKS for u're solution it is working 100% to Mio C520. I tested and make my flash disk visible again.
in other way i tryed to upload Version R48 to my Mio C520 EEU but, after succesful flash and a HW Reset, the device was started OK and after i calibrated the screen nothing. It stay in Mio Desktop without any interface.
Maybe My Firmware is Broken? or i must do anything else?

R48 is for C520_NA (hardware is different ... has 2G of flash ...).
For C520_EEU are two known firmwares:

General use information,
This is a typical example of 'How to brick your device'.
Now if you have the UPGRADE screen activated, you can enter into the 'blue screen' and it shouldn't be a problem to upgrade to other version of firmware (with only one condition: Don't write the bootloader - uboot.bin).
As a general rule: is not recommended to upload a firmware that is not compatible with your device (type, model and region); but (even if I will repeat my self) if you have the UPGRADE screen activated the chances to recover your GPS are increasing. |
