No, it does'nt work. When I start DiskRW, there appears a button in the taskbar named "Disc Reader", but there is no window where i can select the combobox. |

| :) "Select FROM combo-box" combo-box is the 'selector' (an arrow up to down) ... a selector (list box ...) in the right side of the TEXT: 'Store:' ... is not a window |

Yes, I know what a combo-box is. But a combo-box is placed on the applications window, and that's whats missing.
If I run diskrw nothing happens. I receive no error, but there isn't a window. The only thing i see is the bachground from wince. So, i can't select or do anything because there simply is nothing to select. :-) It's as if the application is not started. It appears in the taskbar as "Disc Reader" but even if you click this, nothing happens. So I can't select from combo-box and press 'read' button, because I have no combo-box or buttons to click on. :-) |

really strange ... probably the window was under some other windows ... Do a hardware reset and try this unlock - first (this will stop other Mio related applications to start): http://www.gpspassion.com/upload2/DiskRW2.zip and after restart run diskrw.exe from explorer ...

Now it starts. How long does it take to finish when you press the read-button? Do you see any progress while it reads the image? |

resat,
First probably we should wait until we have same news from krisvw .... and based on his experience we can move forward
But the procedure is:
quote:
but you can give me a hand be testing it. http://www.gpspassion.com/upload2/galin_UPGRADE_MIO_19Jun09.zip But before that; you should ask your self: if you have the winceimg.bin file ... I have some fw. upgrades but I need to know your model. (ex. Mio C220_NA with original fw. ROM: R08 ....). I need all that info. I tested this "unlock" (personally) only on C220_NA (but I helped some other users to do the fw upgrade on C520 and C250+ so I would say that is working on those too). I don't have to tell you that ... VERY IMPORTANT NOTE: IS VERY RISKY ... DON'T BLAME ME IF YOU BRICK YOUR DEVICE!!! So in order to recover your My Flash Disk (I didn't had that problem on my GPS ... but I assume that) you have to do a wince upgrade with Format (please read all the files from folder "SDCard/documents"). So first let know all that info and we'll see later ...
I have something that may be what you need winceimg_C520_EEU_R02; but because i didn't test it (personally - I don't have a C520) I would recommend you to find someone with an identical GPS (model, region and ROM:R02...), to download the SMFlash.img (using DiskRW or DISKRW2.zip - is an unlock specially designed to help you with this diskRW software). Also you have to download the UPGRADE package (galin_UPGRADE_MIO_19Jun09.zip) to activate the upgrade screen ... I wouldn't recommend you to try to upgrade with this wince (until we double check it that is the right version) but it's up to you if you want to risk your GPS ( my wince is: http://www.gpspassion.com/upload2/C520_EEU_ROM_R02.zip )

resat, OK ... you ask for it ... 1. download galin_UPGRADE_MIO_19Jun09.zip and C520_EEU_ROM_R02.zip 2. unzip those archives 3. copy on SDCard the content from galin_UPGRADE_MIO_19Jun09.zip\SDCard (also read the documents from folder 'documents') 4. (with GPS disconnected from PC) Hardware RESET 5. (after you power up the GPS) insert SDCard 6. After application starts (an application with two buttons) press SuperUser button 7. press Yes every time you are asked (if you want to unlock UBOOT) 8. after you have the confirmation of the unlock Do a hardware RESET 9. (if you have the SDCard in GPS ... and you should have it ...) when you start the GPS you'll find a blue screen (this time its a good thing) and you have to navigate to 'wince upgrade' To navigate (down ... you can go only down) do a simple click on power button and to select press the power button for more than 1 sec. - probably 2..3 sec. (but not more then 6 sec. because you'll do a hardware reset) BTW: when you enter into blue screen please write down all those menus into a text file to have that information later on ... 10. Go to 'wince upgrade' \ 'wince by USB (quick)' if you want to keep the My Flash Disk OR 'wince by USB' if you want to format also My Flash Disk (I am not sure .. but something like that ...). To select something press for 2..3 sec.... Select the upgrade type (with or without format; your choice). If you had any problems with your My Flash Disk previously ... any type of problems ... is recommended to use the version that will format My Flash Disk (but make sure you have the recovery CD ... :) ) BTW: Write down also those menus :) 11. connect GPS to PC (using an USB cable) 12. a new hardware will be found ... you should choose "Advanced ..." and point the PC to install driver from folder galin_UPGRADE_MIO_19Jun09.zip\PC\SEC_SOC_driver (alternatively if complains that "there is not compatible driver" you can try also galin_UPGRADE_MIO_19Jun09.zip\PC\SEC_SOC_driver_other) 13. After install you should see on display that GPS received an USB address .. or something like that ... 14. start DNW.exe from galin_UPGRADE_MIO_19Jun09.zip\PC\DNW 20. Check if on the form blue upper side there is written "USB : OK" ... that will show you that DNW is connected to GPS 21. Go to menu USB Transmit \ Transmit \ Transmit ... select winceimg.bin (downloaded previously) 22. WAIT ... the procedure will last about 1 min. check the GPS screen and after you see restart wait for another minute (to be sure that upgrade finished). 23. Press the power more than 12 sec. (to do a hardware RESET - but don't power up ...) 24. Remove SDCard from GPS 25. Disconnect USB cable from PC 26. Power up device (press more than 12 sec. power button) 27. You should insert the original CD and perform a recovery.
If you have any doubts or you didn't understood something ask before you start the procedure. I don't have to tell you that is dangerous what you are doing ...

G-alin,
The test worked. I have back my flashdisk an can install miomap again from my dvd.
These are the options when you enter the blue screen:
Mantas_415A44320_UT_R16_0913 MLC 1G 0 = WinCE Upgrade 1 = GPS Tools 2 = BT Tools 3 = UBOOT Upgrade 4 = Memory Tools 5 = Other Tools
When you select te "WinCW Upgrade" menu, you have the following options: 0 = WinCE by SD/MMC (format) 1 = WinCE by SD/MMC 2 = WinCE by USB (format) 3 = WinCE by USB 4 = Exit
I made a winceimg.cks file and put the .bin and the .cks file on a SD Card and the choose the option 0. And everything worked.
Thanx a lot. When there is another thing I can test for you, just tell me.
