I just got an email from GPSCITY that my copies of the CN NA NT V.2009 updates DVD are shipping out via FEDEX to me.

I should have them soon.

Funny, so many vendors do not have it in stock, but a select few do have it.

Kinda weird.....

Apparently Garmin is not up to snuff with the map update info.

They don't even have it on their map view yet.

I have 3 Garmin units.... 2730, 7500 & 76CSx.

When I go to "MyGarmin", it only says there is an update available for one of my units.

So it is definately a little messed up.

Well it looks like GPSCITY is cheaper anyway unless the updates on the Garmin site aren't $75 anymore, I can't remember.

Ya... GPSCTY was one of the cheaper vendors for the update by about $10.

I have seen some slightly cheaper prices on ebay, but no one there has V2009 yet. Plus, you have to be really careful with ebay.... many don't really have the latest versions and don't clarify that info.

Last I checked, the update directly from Garmin was $70 plus shipping.

Besides GPSCITY, I understand that TVNAV has the new V2009 as well for about the same price as GPSCITY.

Well I ordered mine today, looked at a few places but they were sold out. Found some in stock at thegpsstore.com. Had to pay the $70 just because I am going on vacation in a week and wanted to get it before we left cause my 2730 is coming with. Should be here tuesday.

Even weirder or at least interesting, is that the hackers out there have had it posted on various peer-to-peer sites since the end of March.

Does anyone know if the 2009 update will work with the Street Pilot C340?

Yes it will. You would need the NT version I believe.

I got my 2009 CN/NA 2009 update today. The date on the website after the upgrade is Feb 08, so maybe it's close to the latest that NavTeq has.

It does have the Toll Roads that I was missing around here (Austin, TX).

Well I've loaded the update to my 2730 and really dont' see much in the way of additions/changes.

I bought 3 copies of the update... for my 2730, 7500 & 76Csx.

After seeing what's new and different, I'm thinking I may just turn around and sell my other two unopened copies.

I use the 2730 almost exclusively anyway, and the 76CSc I use for my Jet Ski and not on the road.

Garmin could have saved me the trouble if they had it on their MapViewer BEFORE I bought them.

LER,

Can you please check to see if they fixed a problem on I-35 South between San Marcos and New Braunfels, TX? I just posted this problem in another thread, but I saw you already have the 2009 software, so maybe you can check for me.

Set a point at the Front Bank on Hwy 80, which is just east of I-35 in San Marcos. Set another point at the Tetco/Burger King on Hwy 306 just west of I-35 in New Braunfels. Create a route between the two points and see if it shows you getting on I-35 or if it has you stay on the feeder road for the full 14.6 miles. This is a problem with the routing in 2008, but there is not an issue with the V7 maps.

I am going to complain to Garmin, but I would like to know if the maps have been fixed for 2009 before I ask them for a free upgrade.

Thanks,

GPSV

LER's map is NT for 2720, I wonder if the reply will guarantee anything for your 2610.

If you look at 2610 firmware update, the latested one, 2 years old, fixs bugs against the then new map.

---

If you find the similar strange routing on mapsource, then it may be the map problem, and may fix your 2610 routing issue with map update.

Otherwise, only a new 2610 firmware update may help you, but I doubt there will be one for a discontinued product.

My 2008 map on my 2610 also gives me some strange issue not seen on v8 map. For example, around the library I often visited, the device shorter option routes me to go along the two side perimeters instead of going directly on a triangle shaped street block (but mapsource does not do that in whichever routing option).

Thanks for the quick reply. It appears they have fixed the I-35 routing problem with the 2009 maps. I hope they have fixed it in the other places, as well.

By the way, what version of MapSource are you using?

I have 6.13.7, which is the latest according to garmin.com.

Thanks again,

GPSV
