I've disassembled the MicroUSB connector from stock 220>5v adapter and connected 7805 to it, so the pinout is the same.
What capacitor you added? May be this is the problem?

I don't know why AndrewH is always Jeleous with my posts. I just shared my experience with all u guys. I did not said i m selling cables. I just said that i bought ywo cables from market 1 cable worked and other didn't.

thats all i said.

Now lets see i have used 220uf capacitor in 16V at output.. and it worked very well. i m posting picture what i did. i cover this circut with melted silicon and give my customers in 30us$ they use it permanent in Cars.

Again Mr AndrewH listen i m not selling my circut or cable. In my local market in Pakistan many mini USB cables are available which is normally used in mobile phones few works with tk102 and few not work.

You also try cables from your local market.

Mr AndrewH i did not said i m using that cable which comes with TK102 Adoptor......

I bought cables from local market please the attached pictures

(1) picture of 7805 IC

in 2nd picture you will see 3 types connectors

Large cable in picture is that i m saying not worked

small connect in center of picture works and a small cable also works

and finally Mr andrewH please stop acting like a school headmaster

this link is 7805 IC

Tried 220uF, but it worked unstable, then I used 1000uF, now its fairly stable.
But the LM7805 has 60C temperature, which is not so good, especially in the hot summer under the car's dashboard, I think it needs some heat sink.

BTW does anyone know the power consumption of TK103-2 in standby mode (when the TLIMI option is activated and the unit is not moving)?

So what is the power consumption in mA?
What it does in lowpowermode? Turns off the GSM module (and could not accept incoming calls) or what?

Huh?? Did i miss something there? I was agreeing with you... I have nothing at all against you or your posts. Although now that i re-read my post, i think it is just a translation/language problem. When i said 'on the money' i meant i think you might be right. i.e 'hit the nail on the head' etc. Sorry for the confusion.... Relax, i'm not out to get anyone.

Which was what i said before. All the energy that the 7805 removes to give you 5v it wastes as heat. The more current you draw from the reg, the more heat it will make. It will work and i have used one before but they are not ideal. Use the other reg you have if you can. If you can't, i'd suggest a 100uf (min 16v) cap on the input side of the reg and a small ~10uf on the output side. You should really have both. The one on the input side is more important than the output side tho. It's all in the datasheet of the 7805

BTW, the phone chargers with the SM34063 can be made adjustable. Simply replace the voltage divider resistors with a pot and you're good to go. Handy if the voltage drops too low under load.

R U pressed about ?

No I think that on lowpowermode the device aquire GPS signal based upon GPSAUTOSEARCH value.

Just posting what I have about TK103-2:
My aperometric clamp has gone along time ago.
I've a TK103-2 on my car.
I've left my car on airport parking for about 20 days.
My reporting time is every 10 sec.
Old Nissan cars gives the voltage on trip computer.
The voltage still at 13,2V.

OHH KLAUS !!
Are you Santa Klaus ???
Please stop this spamming !!!

AndrewH, I know that SM34063 is voltage adjustable, but TK102 never started (correctly) with it, nevertheless I added the 1000uf capacitor to output side.

I'll try to add 2 capacitors (like in datasheet) for testing...

P.S. What if I add a 2200uf capacitor instead of battery?

BTW, does any of TK trackers have compass inside? So they could only send (by GPRS) GPS trip point information only when the direction of moving is changed? This could give more accurate trip route on the map (without chamfered corners).

@zasud
The currently TK102-2 has a function to only send data when it moves a certain distance and you can configure it, like 10,20, 50 or 100 metters.
Maybe this could help you.

Here we have some issue cutting power to vehicles.
Maybe the wiring diagram is wrong.
There's 2 cables coming out from device.
One for power and one for oil or they are a closing/opening switch ?

@suncomth
This what we done.
Maybe we cut somewhere the black/white twin cable....
The realy logical is not a mistery: a contact is close the realy open while closing another.....

BTW here we cant cut MAIN power.
If mr thief dye on a turn cause we cut the main power....
he get the reason or anyway, we should pay for having tried to save our car...
