It should be interesting to see what happens with Fresh Map updates in the U.S. now that Navigon pulled out of the market. They are already proving we will not get 12 map updates since time between updates is closer to 4 months instead of 3 months. And each quarter it seems the release time is getting longer.
I just hope they continue to release updates.....

Although not as bad the the Garmin NuMaps problem in the UK and Europe where they have just refused to issue July's 2010.20 update and we're in September and still no sign - and no definite info from the Garmin Support either - so an extra month isn't that bad!
Sure they will catch up with the success of the iPod software, making US mapping essential for them again |

| Has anyone else received a Navigon newsletter promoting new products and features that are not available in the U.S.? The website link took me to pages that were half in English and the other half in German! Looks like they have found yet another way to tee off their frustrated U.S. customers. |

| I think I am loosing hope for Q3 2009 maps or any updates for that matter. It is now 1.5 months late. A week or so I would understand, but month and a half? Especially when they had Q3 2009 available for their iphone software two months ago [ed see PM] |

This is a reply from Navigon NA Support...
So I guess no more freshmap --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for your inquiry.

I thought Navigon said they will continue to support their products (at least with maps)
It seems their responses change depending on which representative you get.

Here is a message I just sent to Navigon. I encourage all readers here to write similar messages until we get a better response than those currently being sent by Navigon!
The Q32009 FreshMaps update was due to be released in July of this year. It is now September 24th, and all Navigon can say is "We don't know when the next release will take place." This product that I purchased from you represents clear fraud on the part of Navigon. Please respond with more than a canned message that dodges this serious misrepresentation to your many U.S. customers! |

| @sixthday - can you forward me this message on teamgpspassion [@] gmail.com so I can try to find out more. I can't believe they would stop providing FreshMaps updates without some type of compensation, unless there was some clever wording in the licence agreement, anyone still have theirs ? Besides it's silly because they update the maps for the iPhone version and the Navigon Fresh servers are used in Europe. |

As I have said before here and in other places, Navigon richly deserves the grief it gets from U.S. consumers. They simply dropped the ball on virtually all support by phone and email for U.S. purchasers of their GPS equipment, providing unsatisfactory responses such as the one shown.
As a 7200T user and later a 8100 user, I resigned myself to being as satisfied as I could be with the performance of these units -- although the 7200T was clearly inferior. My 8100, though it works most of the time, does lock up on occasion, particularly when moving into an area of low GPS reception or between states (in this area it's DC/MD in the U.S). And when you do a reset with the 8100, and then try to access one of the locations still in MY DESTINATIONS/LAST DESTINATIONS it will give a 451 route profile error.
I can't imagine that other 8100s in the Euro market are NOT experiencing similar issues, and it's another amazing aspect of Navigon's disregard for customers that software fixes have not been developed or offered.

| navigon said they would support their US products which is clearly not the case. This is a prime example where a class action lawsuit should filed for sure. |
