I checked my e-mail tonight was surprised to see something from Navteq. I had completely forgotten that I reported to them 3-4 months ago that the street I live on is not on their maps. The street is about 7 years old but it is small as it is a double ended cul-del-sac.

They reported that they did a field verification and have now updated their database! I was expecting my report to disappear into a black hole but it seems they take our reports seriously. So people, report the errors and shortcomings to Navteq! They do respond.

Now would I expect this to be in the next maps relase? My two months old 260 has the NT 2008 maps.

Hooray for Navteq!

Unfortunately I have to report a less than timely response from Navteq.

Note the date on my report in the quote below from an email I received about 10 minutes ago:

Thank you for your recent Map Report. We have completed our investigation of your Map Report.

For the NAVTEQ tracking number: 0051xxxx
Submitted on : 23, Feb 2007 10:15:25
Problem Description: new roundabout installed at intersection of 39 and Queen Anne Rd, Harwich, MA

Our Resolution Outcome is: No Change Necessary - Database Reflects Reality
Details: It was verified that the database was recently updated by adding a roundabout at the intersection of RT-39/Orleans Rd and Queen Anne Rd in Harwich, MA. The information in this request was already corrected in the database prior to the receipt of this inquiry.

Well, the v2009 maps do NOT contain the roundabout. The tracking number does not allow me to log in and see the details, so I give up. Maybe in the 2010 map?

I'm surprised how outdated the new maps are. Businesses moved/changed/closed more than several years ago still show up in their (dated) locations.

Danham-

Is the "new" fly-over from the Sagamore Bridge on the 2009 map? I haven't updated yet... but I'm curious. I hate when the Nuvi has to recalculate every 10 seconds because it thinks I just drove into the water ;)

@dequardo:

That's POIs, which lag way behind map updates.

@ NuviNut:

Yes, the crawl-over (sorry; I think it's a boondoggle) is in the 2009 map. The new interchanges around Providence are not, however, so I still find myself "in the water" when I drive to/from TF Green Aiport.
